It's regrettable; I don't blame the localizers, though. The Conan Doyle Estate has a reputation for being a jerk about this. They could be seen as just being protective of ancestral legacy EXCEPT that they approved creepy trash like The House of Silk, so to heck with their judgement. Anyway, I will still definitely be calling the characters by their real names, and anyone who comes along all like, "Don't you mean Herlock durhurhur" will be soundly ignored.
