It fell to me to announce to the village people that we would be taking their teenagers to a labour camp. As I tell them I will be taking their loved ones away I feel sick, I hate this. When I joined the Khmer Rouge, I didn't think we would be forced to kill innocent people in cold blood, take fathers away from their families or murder children in front of their parents for trying to fill their starving bellies.
