I LOVED working on this piece.  The idea of a telepathic-collective of enhanced-intelligent land crabs immediately reminded me of the Tachikoma from Ghost in the Shell, and allowed those characters to guide a redesign of how these creatures appear in the 9th World.
The barely-visible egg-mass clustered beneath the hood of the telepathy device; perhaps the crabs hope their future generations will be gifted with heightened intelligence as well...
