Thanks!

everything is custom brushes built for each design element; clouds, mountains, tree foliage, grass...  it took quite some time to figure out the brushes themselves then how to use them to create the effects.
If You watch the youtube videos I did for these you can see the process from start to end, but I'll need to post a new video for how to build the brushes specifically.

It's very interesting to see Bob's paintings translated into digital media. They do look very well-rounded and realistic though I feel there's room for improvement where textures are concerned. Curious, do you paint them as studies or more as a meditative process?

agree on the texture; especially the foreground foliage which has been an ongoing process to improve. :)

I originally wanted to improve my environment paintings in general, but they're fun to do and only take 3 to 5 hours to do, typically so I can knock one out in an evening between projects... but I'd like to do all of them eventually.  Just because. :p

It can be finnicky to get natural textures right. I've recently done moss and even with dedicated brushes it takes time and can look repetitive so then I had to go over with a simple brush and do some touching up. It was a hassle.
I love watching his videos, they are super relaxing. Surprised to see someone so dedicated, tho :P

Absolutely gorgeous. The mirror-like surface of the water is beautiful and realistic as well as the trees and mountains. Spectacular work. :D

Thank you!  the texture of snow on the mountains and the pixelation of foreground shrubbery has been my greatest challenge in this learning experience...  I'm happy with how the snow texture is evolving, and I'm starting to get better brush strokes for the foreground without looking too much like brush stokes or mush... still working on it though.  :)
