Intrusive Thoughts with Bowsette

I had intended to draw a really cute setting full of Mario characters, but this popped into my head and I couldn't help myself. Please understand.

This started as a meme but I ended up having a lot of fun working in a more painterly style than I'm used to, and wound up putting a lot of effort into this. I struggled to fill the background to a point where it could even resemble the original piece that this one is an homage to. How Oda manages to fill his backgrounds up to the brim while everything still looks readable will always be impressive to me.
