A few different artist's stories inspired me to write one of my own.
Well apparently I have been here for 4 Years
wow, it doesn't seem that long ago at all! I started my DA as a portfolio for my online SIM games where I created manipulations for fake money/income. Because of my complete (yes, complete) obsession with photomanipulation, I got into Graphic Design.
Hey computers + art = graphic design right?
Once that was decided I found myself, a self-taught freshman manipulator for SIM games, who never took an art class in high school, suddenly taking 3D/2D/drawing/foundation art courses. Wow, school opened my eyes. I think the first time I picked up a traditional pencil/charcoal/pastel whatever was 2 years ago in my beginning drawing class...needless to say I was/am WAY behind lol. So just about a year ago I learned about digital painting, but really started practicing it maybe 6 months ago. I am now obsessed with that xD Though I use another account for must of my cruddy sketches/paintings & non-equine inspired things, I still love this account since it's linked to most of my friends and fellow artists I've followed for years <3
So I guess I'll do a quick run through of my work to date (mind you the progress is slow)
First Deviation ever! Wow...look at that outline xD I totally understood lighting...totally.
I figured out dramatic lighting with (too much) saturation, and started to make manes/tails look like manes/tails.
So it would appear I got the saturation issue under control (until I started painting because, the pretty colours!). I think 2012 was the year I can really start to see my traditional art/foundations training paying off.
First digital painting EVER. Saturation and texture monster reign and eat everything they can xD
Luckily my manips are not quite so abysmal at this stage. This is also my last manipulation to date, maybe I should make another sometime.
Most recent work! Still a lot
to work on but at least the texture monster has been reined in some xD
