A serpent gently whispers secrets...
Wisdom of learning, wisdom to be free
But also warnings to fear and respect the world
And its workings as you move within it.
To believe what you want, but to remember to believe wisely.
To do what you want, but to remember that everything has consequences.
Learn, ponder, and heed to what you learn and what you know.
For freedom without balance of fear will destroy and corrupt, he says,
And he also says it is wrong to fear without being free, for that is terror.
When you fear properly, you respect.
When you are rightly free, you will also fear,

Something I thought I write for this guy.

This serpent I painted here, is Ferroth, spirit of fear and respect.
Not the kind of fear as in terror, but the kind of fear that teaches one's limitations, the fear that teaches humility, and in learning humility, becoming truly free. When you learn to know and respect--that is to fear--the forces moving the worlds around you, you become truly free. We cannot be or do anything we want without resistance or consequence, nor can we simply believe anything we want without sometimes being wrong.

Fear has manny negative emotions attached to the word, but fear is a good thing when it is kept in balance. Fear protects us. Not just from things we should be 'afraid of', but also what we ought to respect--and what we respect, revere.

As it is said in the poem, Amazing Grace, ''twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved.''

This might be a work in progress. Haven't decided if it's a finished product yet or if I should leave it as a 1-1/2 hour speedpaint.

Yes, I've been up all night again. Had to finish a website update for an important client at 1:30 am this morning and...honestly couldn't sleep after that.

Also, this guy isn't a 'sona' or any kind of representation for myself. I just thought I'd take my friend, TailypoArtist 's advice and think of a meaning behind my user name. Wasn't sure what 'Ferroth' meant when I chose it as a user name, originally. But this might be something cool to apply it to.

Anyway, thank's man.

I'd also like to write some stories around him soon. I think it would be fun, as I'm getting more ideas in my head. ^^
