Young Death Goddess

This was my first photo manipulation, made for the profile page of my RP account on Live Journal some time ago. I've been debating whether I should put it up on DeviantArt since I usually do drawings or paintings. The resolution is also low as the image was not made to be viewed up close.

I have grown fond of Norse mythology's Hel, I enjoy speculating what her early years as Death Goddess must have been like. When searching for an actress, Saoirse seemed the perfect fit (I know I gush over her too much but she is so sweet). I suppose her performance in The Lovely Bones inspired me. There she was also isolated from her loved ones in a realm of the dead. She has a haunting appearance so it was not necessary for me to make the one side of her face rotten, instead I changed it to the colour of bog bodies.
