EDIT (April 23, 2007) : Finally got around to finishing the tutorial, which now includes not only creating the denim texture, but also the seams, wrinkles, and threads! I hope you'll be happy with the results. I'm really pleased with the way it turned out, if I do say so myself! The original tutorial has been deleted.

If you need the scanline pattern, you can download it here: www.deviantart.com/deviation/3…

This tutorial is in html format. Just download the zip file to a convenient location, like your desktop. Double-click the zip file and move the html file and the "Tutorial Images" folder to your desktop (the files folder and html file must be in the same location for the images to show up.) Double-click the html file and the tutorial will open.

Enjoy!

is there anyway this can be updated to compliment Gimp 2.8?

It's been so long since I've done anything with GIMP, I'm not sure if I know how! ;)  Let me take a look and see what I can do.  It may take me awhile, but I'll try.  Do you have specific questions I can help you with?

The filters in 2.8 are a bit different. Some of them don't have the same functionality as the older versions. It takes a bit of tinkering, but it can be done.

I can;t get the scanline to work out. Idk if the file you provided was bad or what, but is this something I can make myself? and if so how, or where can I find information on it?

This is complete awesomeness. Thank you very much. I'm using it on my cubee of me. You'll have to take a look at it when it's up and let me know what you think. (I just hope the picture is big enough that the jeans show up well.) I'll let you know as soon as I post it.

My cubee and the 3D version have just been posted. Let me know what you think of the denim. Thanks again for the guide.

Has it been mentioned you're amazing?

I've actually been looking for how to do Denim textures for a while now (since I don't like it when my jeans look like tight blue pants and nothing more) so..yeah...

(If anyone was wondering why nothing I ever draw includes jeans, now you know. But you probably weren't wondering, cause...admittedly, my gallery still sucks ass.)

I am attempting to use this tutorial with Photoshop CS2 and I cant get the pattern to show up in the selection even though I unzipped it into Adobe>Adobe Photoshop>;Presets>;Patterns. I went to it and double clicked it just to see if anything happened and it said the file was corrupted?
