What an amazing picture, it's really beautiful in the most unconventional definition of the word possible, it's filled with with a symphony of emotions; the shock and sadness of the man laying on the floor, to the face of man walking by, not showing a hint of humanity and the speed of the car driving past, oblivious to the laying mans suffering. It's just brilliant, really well done!

I love the fact you chose black and white - it's much more dramatic. The composition is just right, and you're drawn to the man on the floor with your use of focus. Perfectly executed and incredibly powerful.
Congratulations on the daily deviation :)

This is a wonderful photo, thank you for being brave enough to take it, it really is an amazing capture!

I disagree with most of the comments here, I think..

We're not heartless. I mean, look at what everyone's saying! All you people have hearts enough to care about what's going on in this picture, but you're saying we're heartless. We all have so much heart that we've created a million programs and charities to help people in this situation, so if they can't find their way to a better life, there's really nothing more any of us can do, because we're trying as hard as we can, I think.
In fact, we're trying TOO hard, and now there are just way too many people, because we save everyone!

But if this were a nature show, the narrator would just say that that's how nature works, and no one would be very upset. Because, really, that's just how it works. And even though we can see ourselves more clearly than most, our instincts still pull at us, and they tell us to shy away from disease, and let the weak die, and so the man in the picture is just reacting instinctively. And that's okay, I think.
The world is easier to accept if we don't always try to apply this thing about humanity being so much more... something-or-other than other animals. Because I think that something-or-other is mostly imaginary anyway.

It's just a nature show, you guys.

Your photograph captures how a lot of people react in these situations. It's really sad.

How?

How can this be possible?

Nevertheless it happens every day, I know.

The history behind this shot really affects to me. We can see an --apparently, judging by its white beards-- older man resting down in the street, visibly mutilated. His wounds are not recent, maybe as the result of a grenade, maybe bullets...

He have an improvised bandage on his unique leg, but no more, not even a blanket.

On the other side, a man walks to its side, covering his noose, with an indifference gesture.

One can think this happens only in extremely poor or engaged in a war countries, but no. It happens around the world, in any place where a needed person and a dehumanized society exists. This image made me think about it, this is one of his big merits.

Pain, Indifference, Helplessness.

That's what this powerful and excellent image said to me.
