I swear I've done this journal before but I'm bringing this up again because once more I've bumbled across dunderheads saying things along the lines of 'finally Star Wars has strong women'.
I've gone on at length in other journals and videos about how dismissive and ignorant a comment that is but I want to address something specific that I had forgotten.
In this case it is about Leia and I'm not going to cite the many obvious scenes where she is a strong woman and makes that very obviously clear.
Instead I am going to concentrate on a moment that was captured in The Empire Strikes Back which speaks to me on a very deep and profound level as someone who served in the military.
The moment in question is this:
That is a woman who stands a head shorter than most of the men around her and (if we ignore the female pilots in the EU who fought at Hoth) the only woman present standing in their midst telling them what to do and they are paying attention.
