Escape from the Normal - Rosa x Kelpie Pt1
Rosa
Rosa stormed out of the healing den, head down hair in front of her face to try and hide her tears... She was heading to the nearest outcropping of rocks. Anywhere to get away from this stupid camp full of stupid cats. The ice and snow had begun to melt but there was still a stiff breeze in the air, and though she was excited to see this so called spring she was still sad to the snow she had enjoyed so much, leaving. If her mother wanted her out the way then out the way she would go! With a sniff she tried to wipe the tears out of her eyes as she looked to hop up a mini cliff.  She could make that right?
Kelpie
Kelpie had spent most the morning listening to his sisters bicker and Cougio attempt to break them up. Not exactly out of the ordinary but definitely not what the nearly year old cub was planning on doing for his morning. Especially when it was the same arguments over and over again. Huffing a sigh the dark hybrid ha

Sparks - Iris x Mys RP
Mys
Mys sauntered out onto the training field his dark coat already starting to soak up some of the delicious warmth of the sun. While working with the apprentices (and to a lesser extent being requested to take a training day) wasn't exactly the most glamorous of all hunter duties... but it was interesting and usually proved to be pretty fun too. Shaking his head he headed out farther into the field and looked around beginning to feel a bit nervous... He paused to watch the apprentices for a moment, not entirely sure what to really do. Was he supposed to show them specific moves? Or maybe just give pointers? Or did he just watch and yell at them when they did something wrong like when he was younger? His brow furrowed a little bit and he glanced back at the entrance. Man he wished Terr was here too. Then the two could show off some of their best fighting techniques! With a sigh though, the cheetah started down the rows of training dummies, pausing to watch a young cheetah he recognize

Is it Play Time? - RP
Rosa
Rosa huffed as the fluff on her head fell in her eye for the fourth time that morning, with an inefficient flick she managed to get it to stay out the way as she surveyed her surroundings. The sun was rising, the birds were singing. It was time to move. She rolled off her dad landing on the orange cushion below, "Aloooe... Wake up!" she hissed hopping up and down on top of him.
Aloe
At first the hybrid didn't respond, however with the repeated jarring to his side, Aloe waved his paws around in her direction. "Alright, alright!" He grinned goofly, his eyes still closed in denial to the sunlight. What time was it? Rolled on his back, the cub yawned, peering through half-closed eyelids. Ugh, too bright.
"Now I'm awake though, I think I've got something important to do, sorry Rosey." He briefly stirred, just to flop next to Cam and Mari to deter the onslaught. "It's suppperrr yawn important and just can't wait”

Altan has a very interesting pelt. Her main colours are that of her uncle Naran and her mother if she was not albino. However, they seem to have mixed weirdly with the coat of her grandmother (Seidon’s mother) who was entirely black, much like her brothers Jay’s pelt. She has the bright yellows but then black on her legs tail and back, as if her spots have melted together and just left her with some freckles.

Bracelet (worn as tail wrap like Anane) made for all the little ones by Philos and Seidon to calm there mother's worries of losing them due to lack of sight. They are made from seaweed so they have a distinct but mostly unrecognisable (to most cats) scent and are personalised for each cub.

[Strong-willed & Stubborn]
Altan has a very strong drive when she wants to do something she will move the sun to do so, and no one or anything can persuade her otherwise. Much to her parent’s dismay. Once she’s got her mind stuck on something she’ll stick at it until it works.  This may pay off when it comes to training but for now, it just causes a lot of worry for her parents.
*Spends all day trying to climb tree*

[Hot-Headed & Emotional]
It doesn’t take much to get Altan wound up about something... Teasing is something that will quickly result in a fight, claws sheathed though she’s not cruel, but she is easy to anger, in the flip side she is also very emotional, she can be upset almost as easily as annoyed. Most of the time, however, she is just her happy self.
“WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY ABOUT MY BROTHER?!”

[Protective & Caring]
Raised by a healer has worn off on her slightly. She is a very caring cat, who tries to always look out for others, along with this she is very protective, especially of her brother Jay.
“It’ll be okay, here, let me help you”

[Bright & Inquisitive]
Like her parents Altan isn’t afraid of using her brain, she asks questions about everything, like many cubs, but she is also quick to put together pieces of information and is always striving to know more.
“Mum? Why do bees visit flowers?”

[Playful & High-Spirited]
Although she is quick to be upset or angry she is usually very happy and playful, happy to roll around in the mud, hunt for bugs and try all manner of new things! So long as she can have a cuddle with mum and dad afterwards.
"Quick! It flew that way!!"

Biography

Altan is the middle child of Seidon and Sara, younger brother to Proteus and older sister to their little brother Jay. She was born with her litter mates during a warm spring day much to the delight of her parents and extended family. Her personality will develop into being rather polar, much like her unusual pelt.

Alright the height of the camp did seem to mean there was always a bit of a crisp feeling to the night air but surely, she could have enough space to breath, right?

She bit her lip as she gazed at her siblings. Mari, her sweet, sweet, little sister, and Cam, her delicate caring brother were entwined. Their paws holding each other close as Cam rested his head on her chest and their fathers paw held them both close. Aloe was tucked under their mother’s front paw as it stretched to reach their fathers on top of the sweet pair. She had curled up neatly between her parent’s stomachs, her sibling’s tails and hind regions making a good bed on top of the dried grasses and flowers that made up their nest. Her parents seemed to be as much in love while they slept as they were during the day. They slept with their foreheads touching and every now and then one of them would quietly nuzzle the other eyes still closed.  Why was it that they were so comfortable to all sleep so close and entwined? And yet she always felt slightly like she did not quite fit.

It was something that had plagued her since she could first really think about things properly. She loved her family. More than anything. She had spoken to her friend Kelpie about her feelings. She wasn’t alone in being a bit different from her family. He said he wasn’t as loud as his family, or how he liked sneaking around. But... She struggled to pin point exactly what it was that set her apart from her family. She still liked cuddles and affection... Just on her terms... She liked playing with others but just on her terms...

Did other cats have “terms” like her? Was she the only one that had requirements before things could be done? Did everyone else only like things just so? Was she being selfish like somecats thought? Was she being controlling? She didn’t mean to be... She didn’t want to make other cats unhappy. And yet... Half the time it felt like everything she did stepped on other cats tails.
As if on cue a cold breeze manage to filter its way into the den. Her hair fluffed up instinctively. Holding the warmth, she had stored against her skin. Her mother’s long tailed moved to wrap around them more. She hunkered down nestling her head into her mums side. Listening to the sound of her heart beat made her feel less alone. Quite why she would feel alone after feeling like she wanted to move to the other side of the den was far beyond her comprehension. She thought back to when she had gone to a perch on the rocks to cry alone after being told off by her mum. Well deserved of course. Was it not always? Only to be told by a dark cub that she should rethink due to the breeze she would enter. She hadn’t listened to him of course. Why did he think she would think he’d know better? Just because he was bigger? Well he had been right, and he had shown her all manner of tricks since. He still thought she was a little over the top sometimes and that she could be a bit of a demanding know it all... But he still liked spending time with her so that was something right? Maybe she wasn’t so bad...?

A yawn bubbled up as she held her head up looking at the furry bodies in front of her. Another twitch from Aloe caused his little tail to shift and bap her gently. She could imagine him awake and chastising her for not sleeping while she had the chance. He’d be horrified of course. Sleep was the ultimate thing for him. She however liked the dark, she enjoyed the idea of stalking alone in the woods at night, of hunting down her prey. Okay maybe Kelpie could be there too... He was good at sneaking. Maybe he could help? Definitely not sparkle-butt though. He was too noisy... He’d scare all the animals... As she imagined the peace at which the ability to move freely, without being seen or heard in the territory would yield, at some point her eyes closed and peace found her again. Maybe apprenticeship would ease the feeling of confinement? Of the need to conform? Maybe then she would be seen as less of a nuisance and more of an asset?
When you should be sleeping
DUNDUNDUNN!! Rosa's last cub assingmenntt!!

this is her family one! Though I wish I had managed to find a way to do this that included them more...

TLDR - Rosa wakes in the night and muses over how she feels about things in general. Why does she annoy so many cats without meaning to? Can she be better? Does she want to be?

Seidon

The grey lion stood in the middle of the Silvered Woods. It was one of his favorite places in Shadow Empire—not just for its beauty, but also for its serene ambience. For that reason, he usually went there when he had to think. But right now, all he could think about was his youngest son, who had vanished early this morning. He was supposed to be leading a search party soon, but for now, all he could do was think.

He knew that Jay wasn’t used to their current home; Seidon himself longed for the familiar stone ruins he grew up around. But it never occurred to him that Jay would actually try to go back there. Sator knew if some other animal—or worse, a Bounty Hunter patrol—would be waiting for him there. If only he had kept a better eye on Jay…if something happened to him, then he would never forgive himself. It was like losing Julius all over again.

“I’m so sorry, Jules…” he whispered, referring to both his old friend and his child.

Sara

Sara's heart just wouldn't stop fluttering, there were snakes coiled in her stomach. She almost felt like she should throw up but there wasn't time for such self-indulgence. She was following the scent of not her son but her mate. Jogging swiftly from their makeshift camp the short distance to where she expected him to be. Thinking.

The morning had started off so well. She'd said goodbye to her mate and cubs not long after dawn as she and Quin had planned on a rather long day collecting willow bark in some of the nearby marsh. It had been cut short, however, when Elin had come running at them full speed. They had known immediately something was wrong.. but the she cat would never have thought it would be this. As they had raced back to camp Elin recounted what she knew, the cubs had been playing, thus usual, but when Mulligan had called them for the morning nap and story, Jay hadn't been there. Altan and Proteus had sworn he'd just gone for a sit down at the edge of camp after refusing to play tag but.... he hadn't been seen since. That had been over two hours ago now..

She was going to stay in camp with Altan and Proteus while Seidon, along with Anane and Amber and a handful of their expert trackers went to find her missing baby. She needed to see Seidon, needed to. Her rock, her partner. He could soothe this pain right? She pulled up as she sensed his proximity.

"Sei?"

Seidon

If he hadn't been feeling bad enough already, then hearing his beloved mate call his name sent an even deeper arrow of guilt plunging into his heart. "Sara…" Seidon murmured, turning around to face the albino leopardess, his ears lowered. "I…I…" I don't know what to say…
They both had lost family and good friends growing up—as painful as it was, it was one of the things that brought them closer together. But now, it was their own son they lost. Even if it hadn't been a battle that took Jay away from them, the pain was still the same. Even if there was a chance that Jay would come back, it still hurt the same way. Especially since Sara hadn't even been at camp when Jay disappeared. Especially since Seidon had been there when it happened, but because he had been called away from the nursery to help Aiode's cubs train, he hadn't noticed that his own cub wandered off until it was far too late. And now, here they were once more, sharing their grief over a lost loved one.

After a few moments of staring at Sara, he darted forward and nuzzled her, feeling her muzzle brush up against his mane. Seidon knew that this always comforted her, but at the moment, it was also easing his own agony.

Sara

Any relief she felt at his scent or the feeling of his soft mane against her face was lost as her stomach flipped. His words... Only one in fact. But... It wasn't in her head, and that was worse. Her mind filled in the gaps. Or so she thought.

I am Sorry

She froze stiff, half of her wanting to nuzzle him, pretend everything was okay. Pretend her littlest, her baby wasn't out there alone in the frozen, cold forest. But he was. She pulled back, ears flat, body rebelling to the pain that was flooding through her body.

"How... How did this happen?"
How could you let this happen?

The early days after her promotion flashed through her mind, the ones where she had had to leave her little ones to try and get to grips with being in charge of the health of the whole empire, trying to help Quin finish his training. The pain she'd felt as she had to watch them play from afar as she sorted one herb or another, the hidden jealousy she'd tried her best to hide as she left her mate sleeping with them in the early mornings. She had been so grateful for her position but at the same time, she resented not being able to be there for her cubs. But they'd had their father. Her mate. But.

He hadn't been there for them today.

Seidon

Seidon had his eyes closed as he embraced Sara, trying his best to stop tears from spilling out of them. But the moment his brain registered the leopard hybrid stiffening against him, those eyes opened and watched as Sara slowly pulled away from him, her ears pressed against her skull.

“How did this happen?”
“If only I knew, Moonbeam…” Seidon replied, his voice nearly cracking. “I was helping Mulligan watch the cubs when Robin and his sisters came up to me and asked me to help them practice their hunting skills. It was only a short while, but by the time I got back to the nursery…our son was already gone. I…I could only hope that he hasn’t wandered too far from camp…”

The grey lion trailed off, a tear finally escaping his left eye. “I thought Jay was trying to follow you and Quin,”  he had been going to say. But if Sara was already blaming herself for Jay’s predicament, then there was no way in Sator that he was going to give her another reason to do so.

It was then, however, that Seidon began thinking about how much their lives changed ever since his mate was promoted to Head Healer. He thought about the days when he would greet his cubs good morning every time they woke up (at least when he wasn’t assigned on an early morning patrol, or when the cubs weren’t already romping around outside), only to find that Sara wasn’t curled up next to them. He thought about the longing he felt when he played with his children in his free time, knowing that his mate was too busy inventorying herbs to join them. It was an honor to hold such a high rank, and Seidon would always be proud of his mate for that reason—but he would never stop resenting the sacrifices Sara was forced to make for the sake of duty. The fact that she now had to worry about their youngest child’s welfare and the health of Shadow Empire’s welfare only fueled his bitterness.

He didn’t dwell on any of this for long. However, as he quietly told Sara that the search party was no doubt waiting for him, and that she was more than welcome to accompany them if she felt up to it, he did begin dwelling about the question his mate asked. Surely Mulligan or somebody else already explained his whereabouts to her. Or was she asking this because…no. Good Sator, no. Surely she wasn’t blaming him for what happened.

Sara

She could feel the pain, and the cracks forming in a web around them. She felt the tears forming in her eyes likes shards of glass as similar ones streaked down her mates face and muzzle. The pain the confusion. It was just too much. As much as she wished they would, his words didn’t bring her the comfort she so craved. The only words right now that would solve this was the confirmation her baby was safe. And she wasn’t going to be getting that.

She nodded as he suggested the party was waiting for him… It likely was. This self indulgent chat, as much as they felt they needed. Wasn’t going to bring her baby home faster. His suggestion that she could help search weighed heavily on her mind, she was a great tracker, the scent of her cub would be fresh, but… Something made her hesitate, was it the self doubt always there from her lack of sight… or was it the feeling of needing to make sure her remaining cubs were safe. She couldn’t tell. But either way, she felt tied to camp.
“I can’t.. I must stay with Tey and Altan. Aurelia knows they’ll both try and follow you out if we’re not careful. And one lost cub is already too much” Saying it made her tongue feel like searing hot metal, the words pained her to no end.
“Just… Bring him back. Promise me you’ll bring him back” Her unseeing gaze faltered as the tears continued to spill down her face. Trying her best not to sob. She couldn’t look at him, how had he left their children to help anothers? Mulligan was an amazing mother and guardian but how could she watch three larger more rambunctious cubs while her three little ones needed more care? Why had she never thought about this. She should have made sure there was always someone with her little ones, Seidon should have been there.
She’d need to get it together before she got back to camp, she didn’t want to worry her babies. They’d be wound up enough with the formation of a search party. Their mum crying wasn’t what they needed.

Seidon

“I promise,”
he told her, licking his mate's forehead before reluctantly pulling away. A part of him didn't want to leave Sara nor their other cubs while they were still grieving. But deep down, he knew that the only thing that would heal all of their pain was ensuring that little Jay was safe and sound in the nursery before the day was out. “I promise that I will bring our son home,”  were his last words before he sped back to camp, where his patrol was waiting. He promised…but he was unable to keep that promise.

They thought they had found him. The closer the patrol got to the old camp (Good Sator, how he hated calling the place where he grew up the “old camp”), the stronger Jay's scent grew. But as the familiar, stony abode came into view, Sebastian began picking up the scent of dog. Seidon knew his former apprentice was right; after having to fight for his life against wolves, there was no way he wouldn't recognize the smell of canines. And judging by the tracks going in the same direction, the bloodthirsty beasts had found an easy meal—Jay. As his patrol hastened to the ruins, images of his precious child lying alone, frightened, and in pain appeared before his eyes; those images urged his paws to move faster. Hold on, Jay. Hold on, my son.

But it wasn't Jay's injured body they found. Nor was it his dead body. For by the time they arrived, there wasn't a body to be found. All that they found were the dog tracks, Jay's tracks, spots of blood, and a seaweed bracelet lying in the middle of the chaos.

That bracelet was now resting in the grey lion's paws, feeling more like a heavy stone. He and Philos made the cubs these bracelets so that neither he nor Sara would have to worry too much about losing their children. And now here he was, at the edge of camp, with his heart in excruciating knots because his youngest child was lost. What made it worse was seeing the misery on Tey and Altan's faces when he woke up earlier this morning.

“Soon. Hopefully, soon,” he replied somberly to their questions of “Is Jay going to come back?”, nuzzling them both fiercely. But even knowing that he was going to continue his search—considering that he had been looking for Yuki and Hiyori's mother for two years and counting, there was no question that he wasn't going to stop looking for his own son, for Sator's sake!—the worst part of this current state of affairs had yet to come.

How am I going to explain this to Sara? he thought, gently nuzzling the bracelet, wishing fervently that it was a sweet black cub he was embracing rather than a damaged seaweed cord.

Sara

As her mate turned away she paused. Unable to move as he started his fast track back to the temporary camp. She had to rake in a few breaths and drag her paw across her face numerous times before she felt like she could start to head back. Her paws felt like they were shackled to a rock or like she was swimming but she did manage to make it back to camp just in time to give the search party a grief-stricken nod goodbye.

Keeping Altan and Tey busy and quiet had been harder than the hybrid had thought and she’d already assumed the worst… Clarity and Neil had been a saints and managed to entertain them for a bit with a game of tag… thankfully tiring them out so they would sleep. Sara had been mostly pacing the camp waiting. She knew she should have been in the den with them sleeping but the worms in her stomach just wouldn't let her. How could she enjoy the warmth of their den while her baby was out there, cold, alone and lost.

In the end, she’d been in the healer's den sorting herbs over and over again when the patrol returned. She’d been moving the piles back of forth, ordering by scent, then buy use, then by time harvest, over and over again. A habit she wished she hadn’t gotten into to ease her stress. She’d felt there heavy footsteps before she heard them, there was no small patter of paws with them, no scent of her sweet little boy other than blood and seaweed. The seaweed that was supposed to keep them from being lost. She’d ignored any attempts to get her to return to their den, to sleep. She’d look at them with sightless eyes and turned back to the herbs. Maybe if she just stayed her, if she didn’t nestle next to her two remaining cubs she wouldn’t notice the hole that was gapping in her family. In her heart.

But too soon did the light of day begin to filter through the trees above the camp, bringing with it the reminder that this wasn’t some sort of nightmare like she’d so used to be subject to. No this was real. Horrifyingly real and painful. Her paws seemed to carry her without her wishing, to the edge of camp where her mate lay. She could smell it on him, the bracelet and the blood. Their child’s blood. Literally on his paws.
“You promised” Was all she could manage, her voice hoarse from disuse. Her eyes dry and itchy from the tears she had shed through the night. Her tail resting on the ground, her ears flat. “You promised you’d bring him home”  She knew it was unfair. He had done his best. There was nothing he could do. And yet she felt betrayed, lied to. Lost.

Seidon

Being around a near-blind feline for many seasons had sharpened Seidon's senses. For that reason, he smelled the medley of plants and berries Sara had started to carry before he heard her come to a halt three feet behind him. “You promised,” she told him in a tired, broken voice, cutting off the greeting he had been about to make. “You promised you'd bring him home.” His mate's words branded him like a hot iron. He knew she was right. He knew he had promised her, and because he hadn't been able to keep that promise, he had hurt her. Whether or not it was intentional—and he could count on his paws the number of times he'd hurt someone intentionally—he'd hurt her. And Sara had every right to feel hurt.

It was just like the time Tuko was captured during the raid; Sara may not have voiced it, but it was as clear as daylight that she partially blamed Seidon. And Sator knew what thoughts had been going through the hybrid's head when, a year later, they were led to believe that Tuko had been killed (and by a dog, the lion couldn't help but recall dolefully). But the one major difference was that with Tuko, Seidon knew he had to choose between saving the older male from capture—and possibly getting captured himself—or saving Sara from death. With Jay, there was practically nothing Seidon nor Sara nor anyone else could have done to stop the cub from wandering away from camp.

The only sliver of hope the grey lion had was that they haven't found a body. Jay was missing, yes, but that didn't mean he was dead. He could still be out there, wandering around the territory, trying to find his way back home—home being his family, and not an empty camp. Maybe he found temporary refuge in Lightning and Fire Empire camp. Seidon knew that it'd terrify his son to be around complete strangers, but it was better than chancing fate with a dog pack. If worst really came to worst, then Jay would've been found by a Bounty Hunter patrol, but surely they wouldn't lay a claw on an innocent child. Nor was Jay, truth be told, an ideal candidate for the Hunter program; like father like son, really. No, his son was more likely to be sold as a pet. One way or another, wherever Jay was now, the fact remains that Jay was still out there.

“You are right…I have promised…” the grey lion agreed softly. Those four words lent him just enough strength to get to his feet. He turned around, blue eyes locking onto red eyes, never once breaking contact. “…And I am still going to keep that promise. I…we may not have found him, yet…but I am not going to stop searching for our son until I do find him.” Until I find out what happened to him, another part of Seidon said, but he resisted the pessimistic thought. He had made many promises in his life, some to himself, some to others. Not all of those promises have been able to be fulfilled, but Sator strike him down if he was to break this promise. No…if he was to forget this promise.

Sara

The words he spoke should have made her feel better. Should have eased some of the grief that was currently eating away at her from the inside. But it didn’t. It was but a drop in an ocean of pain. That pain was quickly shifting into something worse, something she had thought she’d never truly feel towards her mate.

Anger.

Yes she had been hurt when Tuko was taken during that raid years ago, when Seidon choose saving her over him. Or when they had thought he had died in the Coliseum. But that was minor, because truly she had blamed herself for being so weak and ill-trained to not be able to help him her self. No she had been the one that had failed that day. She had failed herself and Tuko. This, this pain was raw unending grief at the loss of their child. Her child. Another one. Her heart crumbled as she recalled the loss of her last litter at the hands of a hunter as she and Rafael had tried to keep them from the nursery. Inadvertently endangering the cubs she hadn’t known she was carrying. He hadn’t been there.

“That’s funny because at the moment it looks like you are mulling over a bracelet.” She spat, the pain feeling like venom on her tongue. It was uncalled for. She knew he was here waiting to talk to her as she had ignored him last night. But. But the words wouldn’t stop. “This is just like the camp raid and the flood. Our children are hurting again. Our child, is out there somewhere, at best; alone, cold and severely hurt, and at worst; dead and eaten by a pack of dogs” Oh lord how she hoped that hadn’t been loud enough for Tey and Altan to hear… She shouldn’t have said that… She didn’t want to see the pain she was inflicting on her beloved.. Her rock. But he hadn’t been there. Again. But wasn’t that his fault…

All the thoughts were swirling around her head. She hadn't slept. She hadn’t eaten. She could feel the tendrils of dispeare she’d work so hard to leave behind in her apprenticeship slowly curling back around her. She had to go. Somewhere. Somewhere that wasn’t here. She looked beyond the male, sightless eyes staring off into the distance she couldn’t see.

“Quin offered to watch the cubs today” She spoke without emotion. “Find Jay” She spoke sternly before pausing and whispering more to herself.  “I won’t lose another cub”. She shook her head as if to dispel the melancholy that had seemed to find its way into her bones before looking back out into the woods again. “I am going to head out alone. I need to think” And with that she was off. A fast jog that quickly turned into a sprint. Maybe if she ran fast enough she would be able to forget.

Seidon

If the first two sentences Sara said to him that morning felt like a brand, then the next sentences she flung at him were akin to a living nightmare that would haunt him for the remainder of his life.

“That’s funny. Because at the moment, it looks like you are mulling over a bracelet.”

The bracelet in question tumbled out of Seidon's paws as he abruptly stood up and staggered backward with his ears flattened. “W-What do you mean?” he asked in sheer disbelief. Did she not hear what he said? He said he promised. He promised that he was going to find their son! So why was she accusing him of sitting idle after he and the others exhausted both mind and body trying to find Jay? The answer came almost as quickly as the question. He didn't want to believe it, but there was no denying it anymore. Not when it was crystal clear in his beloved mate's eyes.

She really was blaming him for what happened to Jay.

And she did not stop there. She went on to emphasize the predicament their little Jay was in because of his failure to find him. She even seemed to blame him for what happened during the Hunter raid and the flood. Just like hurting others, Seidon could count on his paws the number of times he had shown temper to others. This was one of those times. “Sara, how could you say that? We don't know what really happened to Julius!” The grey lion did not often call his youngest cub “Julius” or “Jules” around others—not even Sara herself. But he blamed himself for his friend's capture, so hearing one of the closest felines to him blame him for his friend's namesake's disappearance was really hitting home. And what of the miscarried litter of cubs? She knew that he had been returning from a training session with Sebastian—then defending the apprentice den with his nephew—the night of the raid. Plus, not even Thalia was aware Sara was pregnant then. And the flood? Who could've predicted that happening? Not to mention, his first instinct had been to check on his mate and children, but Drake insisted that they should wait for them in Silvered Woods; like Altan, he'd fallen into the water, so there was no use arguing with his mentor after nearly drowning. This situation was no different.

“This is not my fault. Not mine, not yours, not Jay's, not Mulligan's, not anyone's! I promised you…how can you say that I already forgot that promise?” His head lowered, the anger fading almost as rapidly as it came, giving way to despair. Sara…do you not trust me?

Suddenly Sara was announcing that she was heading out of camp to think. Alone. Not even with Tuko or anyone else she could trust. She was going out alone. “Sara, wait! Come back!” he squeaked in alarm. “Please, I'm sorry! Sara! Wait! I'm sorry!” He began to chase after her, but barely made it two strides before he trod on something that felt like glass; it was Sara's glass pendant, which was thankfully unharmed. But when he looked up, Sara had already vanished from sight, leaving him alone with the remnants of his mate and son.

“I’m so sorry…I'm so…” He could not even complete the apology to ears that weren't around to hear his pleas for forgiveness. He gathered both Jay's seaweed bracelet and Sara's glass pendant in his paws. And allowed the tears he had been suppressing flow freely down his cheeks.
Lost and Alone - Sara x Seidon RP
Very early spring / late winter -> Jay goes missing and Sara and Seidon's lives begin a spiral of loss.

Since Thalia left and Sara was promoted to healer she has been stressed beyond imagination. She hasn't been able to be around her cubs as much as she'd like and the flood pushed her to her limit. And now this disaster has fractured her. Her poor mate Sei had to bear the brunt of her pain and confusion and now things seem to be irreparable..

Huffing a sigh the dark hybrid had simply faded out of the den (easy to do when you're quiet in his family) and made his way out into camp. Only to discover that there wasn't much happening there either. He sighed again and began to weave his way slowly through dens and cats, nodding politely and greeting  as he went. Eventually he came to an outcropping of rock where a small cub was glaring at the outcropping and he stopped to watch. He cocked his head, his light bangs swishing out of his eyes to give him a better view of what was happening.

Rosa
With eyes slightly squinted, she dropped her body, legs crouched and ready to hop. But just as she felt herself ready to spring she could feel the eyes of another rest on her. She froze before hopping and turning on the spot. She wasn't happy. This day had gone badly enough and now a cat was going to see her at her worst. Luckily it was just another cub, an older one yes but it was hardly someone worthy of her attention.  "What do you want?! Here to rub it in?!" She spat, the lucid part of brain trying to remind her that it was highly unlikely this dark cat knew anything of what was going on but that couldn't stop the pure venom just overflowing. She hated this. Hated that she seemed so incapable of being a nice, sweet cub like her stupid siblings. Why did they find it so easy to not just... Well... Do this...?

Kelpie
Kelpie's brow twitched up and his eyes widened slightly, enough to see the glimmer of his bi-colored eyes. So, another spitfire. How strange they all seemed to live in Ice Empire. His mouth twitched and he huffed out a breath that might have been a laugh at his own little joke. His head righted itself and his bangs fell to cover his eyes again. "I was simply waiting to see what you have planned. The top of that particular outcropping tends to get really cold with the breeze, so I doubt you really wanted to stay there." He said, easily brushing off her harsh tone and words. After all his sisters tended to always sound like that. "I just figured you must have something interesting hidden up there."

Rosa
How DARE he laugh at her! How DARE he just let the words slide past. He was so unbothered. So uncaring. Here she was upset and crying and all he cared about was 'stuff'.

His lack of reaction if anything just took all the wind out of her sails. Why bother. He didn't look like he'd care anyway. She turned away, deflating. Sad eyes looking back up at the rocks. She might as well. She had nowhere else to go. Aloe would be in the nursery, he'd ask too many questions. She dropped down again and sprung with all her might. She just reached it, back legs scrabbling to help her up. At least up here she wouldn't have to deal with uncaring know it alls.

Kelpie
Kelpie watched with bright fascination as the cub jumped. She had made it, somehow... Getting up again he moved till he was a little bit beneath her and sat down again cocking his head up to watch. "And so she leaves her new companion to face a life alone upon the mountain." He said dramatically and his mouth twitched again as his smirking face drew in a deep sigh of feigned regret.

Rosa
She had just sat down with her little tailed curled around to cover her chilly paws, ready to descend into a pit of self-pity and the voice from the male started again.... What was his problem? Did he like seeing cats upset? But no.. he seemed to be genuinely trying to be funny. Shame he failed miserably. Mostly... Okay, it was nice to finally have someone that wanted her around. Even jokingly. Even if it was a virtual stranger with too much hair, she flicked her own delicately out of her eyes for what felt like the millionth time that day....

"One can only hope that the cold brings about your quick demise" She replied, but this time she didn't have the venom dripping from it. No this was actually a joke. Though she almost worried he wouldn't take it as such. Eh. Why did she care, she dragged a paw over her face. Trying to get rid of any evidence of past tears.

Kelpie
Kelpie snickered to himself and made his way silently to the bottom of the ledge before looking up, his face a mask of solum hurt and distress. "Such dark words coming from someone so young." He said seriously, shaking his head in mock disappointment. "Death threats already and I don't even know your name." He said sighing.

He glanced up then, his eyes opening just enough to catch a glimmer through his bangs before stretching up on his back legs and placing his paws on the short cliff. "Now, I hope your finished pouting. It's not lady-like or fun. And I have more interesting things to do then be threatened with death. Though I will admit, it is amusing from time to time." He said with a friendly smirk.

Rosa
As he replied she turned and moved to the edge,  looking down at him gracefully. "Oh please, you needn't know my name for me to threaten you,  though I guess I could grace you with it, my names Rosalie, though I'll allow you to call me Rosa" she smirked at the male below her. It was nice to be able to speak freely to another.  Mari and Cam were so delicate, while she was half convinced Aloe was conspiring against her...

As he reached up towards her she couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. "I can pout as much as I like thank you very much" she stuck her tongue out at him.  " And why must I be lady like? I'm but a cub you know" she fluttered her eyelids. Before cracking a sly smile. "Now please, do tell me what's more interesting than speaking to me?"

Kelpie
"Rosa... Rosa... hmm" He thought about it hard for a moment before he shook his head sadly, "That, unfortunately, is a name for a lady. I believe the name Lorelei fits you better." He said putting off the question as he removed himself from the cliff and began to walk toward the brush. "As for what is more fun," He paused and grinned, "Why there is so very much a cub can get into just out of the watchful eye of their parents. Apprentices can get into even more fun like," He paused, his tone becoming more informatory, "Did you know that the camp entrance isn't the only way in and out of the camp?"

Rosa
The female tilted her head as he spoke of her name, ear tufts fluttering. What did he mean by that? Was she not as pretty as a rose as mummy said..? But the male redeemed himself quickly by giving her another pretty name.  Lorelei. She liked it. But before she could ask why he perked her attention with his next action.

He moved away from her towards a bush. His words were like a melody. A way out of camp..! Her and Aloe had been investigating such things but... they had never managed it. Cam was too much of a tattle tail. Always ruining their fun.. but he wasn't here today noooo, he was with goodie two shoes Mari, helping mummy with the smelly herbs.

But she held herself back not leaping straight after him.  Instead, taking her time to hop down gracefully. "Oh but I shouldn't just go wandering off with a stranger. What's your name?"

Kelpie
Kelpie stopped as she called out to him and cocked his head. A stranger. What a strange idea. He hadn't thought of that before or for that matter he wasn't sure he had even met a stranger before. Well in a way he guessed he could count the cub, but still. Up until now his family had made up his whole world, and yet there were cats that still thought of his family as strangers. Kelpie smiled, maybe this empire had more surprised than he thought.

"Kelpie."
He answered. "Though if it makes you feel better you can call me Kal."

With that, he started walking along the brush line every once in awhile ducking his head into the bushes to check the depth before tsking and moving on. Finally, he found the spot he had scouted out days ago.
"Here it is." He said with a grin.

Rosa
"Hmm Kelpie. I like it" she stuck her tongue out at him before slinking after him, making sure to keep her head low and tail down. This was going to be such a fun adventure!  After the male had stuck his head into the bushes a few times they apparently reached the spot he had mentioned. Though to Rosa it looked like any other spot they had looked at....
She tried to pretend she wasn't the least bit hesitant but... She had never done something quite like this before. Sure she tattled on the others... Sometimes with half-truths but... She had never actually done something she was forbidden to do.. But the allure was strong. She could still hear her mothers look and the words she didn’t say: Why can't you just be good like Mari and Cam?. She had tried so hard and yet. It was never enough... This hole would be freedom! "Lets go!"

Kelpie
The cheetah hybrid grinned mischievously again, his eyes opening the barest slit as he pushed his way through the brush and brambles onto the other side. Sticks and twigs tangled in his fur and burrs and thorns were soon pricking his skin but he didn't mind all that much. He was about to spend the day away from camp and the rest of the rules with it. Though stepping out of the cover of thorns into a small clearing hadn't really been what he was expecting. All the other weak spots had opened to marvelous views of the territory stretching miles beyond the seer's sight. He sighed heavily and waited for the cub to get through. "Coming Lorelei?"

Rosa
Rosa paused as the older cub pushed his way through the bushes. She followed quickly after, not wanting to be left the wrong side of the fence. She closed her eyes to avoid the twigs and thorns but a couple caught her pelt but she pushed through none the less. His question using his nickname for her hastened her movements and soon she too had popped out the other side.
She took a deep breath as she stepped out. Funny. Didn't seem all that different. The clearing seemed nice though. "Now what?"

Kelpie
"Now," the hybrid grinned. "we find out just how much ground we can cover before they figure out we're missing." And with that, he picked a random direction and began setting off at a brisk trot. He wasn't planning on using that particular weak spot again so he didn't really bother hiding his tracks. So in a way, he was at least helping his empire. "Was there anything, in particular, your were wanting to do Lori?"

Rosa
His happiness and enthusiasm was contagious and she was more susceptible to others thoughts than one might think. To have his sole attention and the excitement of an adventure as like a drug. She as paused to listen to him explain the plan, or well lack thereof, she could feel it start to course through her body. Freedom.
She skipped a few steps to catch up this him, an elated smile on her face. "I want to see what the WHOLE of Ice empire looks like! Mumma always speaks of flower fields and ice blue lakes and and" she paused... Mum has also said how those things would only be visible when it stopped being so cold... "Could we see how high we could get and see what the view looks like?"  Yes the camp was pretty high and the view when moving to the new camp had been good, but surely the view would be better somewhere higher.

Kelpie
Kelpie paused in his steps and glanced toward where the top of the mountain was supposed to be. Unfortunately, his poor field of vision as obscured by bangs, branches, and overall distance helped very little in judging how far away that was. And whether it would contend with dinner time. "We can try, but first we're going to have to find the other end of camp so that we don't get spotted by the guards." Last thing he wanted was to have his sole refuge taken from him for something as petty and easily avoided as walking the other way around camp.

Rosa
He didn't seem as excited as she'd hoped by her idea but he hadn't said no so.... that was good right? "Of course, of course" she smiled. The disagreement with her mother and siblings all but forgotten for the moment. Now was time for adventure!! "I'll follow your lead" she said with a spring in her step, careful not to go beyond him, jokingly pretending to mimic his movements
