Wow, I know this is one of the coolest things I'm gonna see all day! This is really awesome! Do you have something online that shows your process? I just started looking through your gallery so perhaps you're sharing something already, but if not, I think it would be awesome to see how you made this too.

Thank you! It's one of my favorite pieces. :D

I have nothing online that really shows my process yet, but I have thought of making a video or something. I think I want to make some more pieces first before I share my not-so-secrets though. Plus, I think a how-to would be more interesting once I have some more art (of a similar process) under my wings. Hahaha. Basically the base is paper and then I cover it in the choice material. --- Nice to hear you'd be interested in seeing something like that! Bulbasaur Yay

He's so cute! I love how you used the outside of the can to create colourful feathers! Nicely made... :star:

copycat!! :rage: haha. nah, it's fine as long as you don't claim the idea as your own/credit me. in the words of "Steal Like An Artist", I'm suppose I'm honored that you find the idea worth "stealing" and adding personal flair to. :gallery: i realize i'm getting to you quite late here. i've been busy lately. i'm sure whatever problems you had, you've gotten by by now and i'm of course interested in how/if it turned out... otherwise, i actually really don't know what to say to help... the shape of the head is the shape of the core of the head, just with all the feathers laid on.

happy to know my work is inspirational. :D

How many times did your fingers get sliced while making this? :?
FarTooManyIdeas's avatar

surprisingly, only once - and just a scratch. :D i wore gloves as I cut the cans apart, but then actually cutting the pieces into feathers and putting it on the owl, wasn't that "dangerous". i just watched the edges. i'm usually so clumsy, so guess it was luck.

Oh wow. And yeah, wearing gloves is a good thing, I would have been kinda dumb and not have worn gloves if I made this. XD Actually I would never have this much talent to make something as cool as this :P

modesty! :D those "perlers" (i learned a new word today!) you make are really impressive! must take forever to translate a picture into one of those! - - - and ur not the only one to not always think "oh, i should probably wear gloves". :D i've gotten scratched a few times by the wire i've been making something out of. :P

Aww thank you so much! That means a lot. It does take quite a while to do so. Oh yeah, you use wires to make a mesh of whatever you're making, right?
FarTooManyIdeas's avatar

starts as just wire on spools - i guess i kinda make it into a "mesh" as I make a sculpture. :D
