Thundering pawsteps echoed thru the void, undistinguishable voices shouting, crying. A daunting, ominous feeling crept through Elowynn's very soul. Silence fell quickly as the sounds flashed by, then, as if it had crept up right behind him, a whisper tickled his ears. It was startling and filled him with an instant sense of fear that caused his body to twitch and convulse as his eyes shot open. A flurry of fur hides scattered themselves across his hut as he was jostled awake by whatever dream... nightmare... vision he had just had. He felt uncomfortably warm as he righted himself and looked around, worried there may have been someone inside his home. Only the soft crackling of burning wood from his hearth filled the hut. He closed his eyes again and breathed deep, calming his racing heart. It was still nightfall, but in a few hours the sun would begin to rise. PoL- Light - Dreamwalker's Path

Early morning sunlight pierced through the gaps of where Elowynn had attempted to cover his eyes with his paw. The dream last night had left him exhausted and for awhile he was unable to return to sleep, his mind too busy with all the possibilities of what had happened. He had to make sense of it, the meaning behind it all. Exhaustion did win out in the end and Elowynn had passed out sometime in the middle of the night. Now, as the birds chirped and the sun urged him awake, he was reluctant. He could lay here, all day... catch up on sleep. The memories of the rot came to mind then, filling him with dread and making his gut wrench. Slowly, his paw slid down the length of his muzzle to the ground and his eyes squinted open. It took a few minutes for them to adjust to the light, but once he could see clearly, he rose to his paws and stretched. White and brown paws twitched as Elowynn's, wise with years, face trembled. His eyes were closed, yet they swished back and forth behind his eye lids as his mind lost itself within the dreams of sleep... or in this case, nightmares. He had made himself a bed of grass and leaves not far from the Briar, unable to leave it to fester in his absence. Within the nightmare he was manifesting, he ran. Panic gripped his chest as his claws dug deep into sopping wet earth soiled by blight. Panting hard, he ducked under falling branches and trunks as deep groans and cracks filled his ears. The world around him was crumbling away, and from its remains sprung forth the ooze he had encountered in the Briar. Thick, oily, it clung to anything like webs, draining life from all it touched. This was utter madness. Utter. Madness. This sapiere simply was not a normal creature of flesh and blood, but of magic and solidified evil. There was no other explanation for the way the beast kept after him, ignoring every wound like it wasn't even there. On and on it chased him; no matter how far Eluen flew in that featureless desert, the sapiere ALWAYS caught up. And now, he was exhausted. Absolutely, totally, exhausted. For the umphteenth time, the stalker landed, panting, on a high dune, wings drooping, tail dragging. This... this is where he would make a stand. Either the grand sapiere will go down, or he will. No other options. He was DONE running.... flying. Whatever. And there it was; the sand cloud that signaled the sapi's arrival. Alright, this was it. One. Last. Stand. Like a mindless raging bull, the sapiere charged, stopping for nothing in its way, leaving bleached bones tumbling it it's wake when it plowed though an ancient nondescript skeleton.

Gnashing teeth, stinging poison, melting radiation - that's the lump sum of what Eluen's life had become. That, and a whirlwind of sand and spines. All he could do was hold on, as the sapiere twisted, bit, and snarled below his talons. The horror... had faded. The fear had faded. The pain had faded. Everything had been swallowed into the sands, everything but the need, the sheer iron will, to survive. To fight for every dust-filled breath. To hold on, grasping talons deep through the formerly blue sapiere's hide, holding for deal life as his body was battered and tossed like a ragdoll on a bronco's back. Lightning crashed with the force of a thousand sledge-hammers, shattering granite just inches away from the sapiere's snarling face. The blue dragon lunged, but the grey lightning-spitter beat her wings and ducked out of the sapi's reach. The battle had been going on for what felt like hours, though it couldn't possible have been more than a few minutes since the blue, brown, and white grand sapiere dropped out of the low cloud cover practially on top of the silver and grey stalker. Luin, the stalker in question, had only barely avoided the long, sharp raking talons, and now was hard-pressed to keep from suffering a great deal of damage at the fangs of the grand. Two breaths this sapiere had. TWO. And those two just had to be poison and radiation - the two nastiest breaths dragons could own, in Luin's humble opinion. It was apparent she was trying to impart something without words. A flood of broken images swarmed like an angry hive, eating my senses bit by bit. It was aggressive, rapid, annoying, colorful, and intense. Something I could hear and see simultaneously. I was confused. This was new to me. Was she implanting these images in my head? I didn’t understand, so I looked back at her. She smiled, but only her eyes held the answer. Then something changed. The images reversed dynamically—slowing, deepening—like she was adjusting an invisible control.
