Some weeks ago I visited an exhibition of invertebrates in the botanical garden of the Faculty of Science. It far exceeded my expectations, I thought there would be just some photos and pinned bugs, but (most of) the exhibits were alive - there was my favorite button-spider, all European giant beetles, slugs & snails and even aquatic animals such as crayfish and swimming bugs. But what I couldn't take my eyes off were the giant caterpillars of the Japanese Oak Silkmoth, which were feeding on oak leaves. They were as thick as your index finger and totally fascinating - I just had to paint a picture of one :D

The technique is digital, one of watercolor-imitating techniques I explored during the work on my bachelor thesis.

I love the colors you used for this-as well as how adorably cute you made him! I could defiantly see this as a cover for a children's book :)
