When they read my name out, it was greeted with a stunned shock which quickly turned to a stony silence. I marched smartly up to the stage to collect my richly deserved award. After all, was I not so much more deserving than the rest of these petty fools. Power and talent had finally won out.
Not one person clapped as they placed the Prom Crown upon my head.
Not a single person congratulated me.

Gallowmere is beautiful country ruled by a - King Peregrin, a wise man who had married a beautiful lady of Gallowmere who then bore him a princess whom was named Nightshade. As she grew into a child the king and the princess lost the queen to the plague that struck Gallowmere. There the king hired the sorcerer Zorak in his court, performing the duty of keeping the royal court amused with simple things such as making balloon animals and reading horoscopes. As the princess aged into a young lady she learned of the rising hero through stories and talk of her fathers subjects. She wasn't easily swooned by these stories after meeting the hero himself rising from a middle class family...
