Anyway, if you've watched me for any length of time, you know I like inventing characters. If they can be a group around a concept, all the better. I've done action-pirates, space opera, movie monster dating sim, urban supernatural something, hyborian age detective, so many different takes on medieval fantasy, even arena-fighting magical girls... what haven't I done yet? Oh, right, superheroes!
I've actually been meaning to draw these guys for a long time. I got a very clear concept in my mind for the first five of them a couple years ago after watching... a modern dance show. Of all things. It had no story, so I made up my own, and extrapolated from there.
Silverman - Richard Shannahan:
Your classic flying brick - super strong, fast, nigh-indestructible. He's one of the most powerful superhumans in the world, and the dutiful leader of the team. He has learned to be in control at all times, to keep his emotions in check, and so comes across as a domineering stick in the mud. Distant, dignified.
Has degrees in law and forensic science, knows judo.
Officially in a relationship with Starlet.
Knockdown - Terri Baum:
Second most senior of the group, she controls gravity. While she doesn't have fine control and can't reverse gravity, she can drastically lessen or heighten it over large areas. Her most common use is to make enemies so heavy they fall to the ground, unable to move, hence her hero name. Confident, feisty.
Has a degree in physics, knows kickboxing.
In a relationship with Wolfen, also in love with Starlet.
Wolfen - Leonard Ayle:
He shares his body with an alien entity, allowing him to transform partially or completely into it - a savage creature that is around 80% claws, with super-strength and a healing factor. He can control it, mostly. But he's always afraid of the creature taking over. Reserved, dependable.
Former air force.
In a relationship with Knockdown.
Starlet - Eden Keighly:
Her power, for what it's worth, is that people who spend any amount of time in her presence fall in love with her. It's a pheromone thing. While that can give an edge against villains, it often creates awkwardness, especially within the team. She generally enjoys all the attention, and is not above using it to her advantage, but it can all get to her at times. Those times, she takes comfort in hanging out with Wolfen, who has been her close friend since childhood, and seems unaffected by her power. Coy, easygoing.
Degree in fashion design and marketing. Highly skilled in multiple forms of self-defense.
Officially in relationship with Silverman, because who's gonna bother on you when your boyfriend can benchpress an 18-wheeler?
Dyne - Jack Todd:
The newest member of the team. Young and full of enthutiasm and energy - literally if you consider his power to generate and manipulate electric currents. While he can certainly throw lightning bolts, he's also always looking for creative ways to use his powers. Spunky, ingenious.
Went to community college in electric engineering. Also did football and boxing.
Single. In love with Starlet, obviously.
Specter- Reynamine Starr:
She's officially part of the team, but mostly does her own thing, fighting crime in the all the dark alleys. Her power is enhanced vision: she can see far away, or really small things, into infrared and UV, in the dark, through walls, etc. It's even rumoured she can focus light through her eyes to fire laser beams from them. Unsurprisingly, she's very good at gathering information. Secretive, independent.
Trained in police college. Carries all sorts of tools and weapons.
Hey! Your work is more than fantastic! I’m dropping this comment in the hope that you might be interested in either working on a one of two projects related to the CW’s Arrow/Flash I’m doing: “Project Green Lantern” and/or “Project Crisis” and/or “Project Prey” or if you’d be willing to do fan-art for my website/Facebook page, “The Arrowverse” which has a growing audience of 56,000 fans. If you would be interested and willing, shoot me an email at “firstname.lastname@example.org”.
Pheromones or not, visually she's my favorite of the bunch ^_^
Cause when so many people love her, the rest start to think maybe there's something they're missing.
