Scribbled Path mokume inspired wedding band by fairyfrog Scribbled Path mokume inspired wedding band by fairyfrog
It may not look very special, and when worn no one is going to be able to tell the difference from a regular inlay, but it matters to me, and it makes me so happy! It may not look like much, but the work behind it was extensive and painstaking.

I am really not supposed to post this yet, but the wedding is not for another couple of months and I am so proud!
I've seen quite the few stacked and soldered straight rings, a few with a faintly waved line through-n-through but never anything like this.

I wanted to create a band with an irregular wave line, but a line that wasn't simply made as an inlay but that would never come off. And show on the inside. In gold. So what I did was pretty much sawing up a squiggle-edged, very expensive clothing pin. :P And clamped a white gold sheet in between, then soldering it together. I then split the bullion in half, so the gents' ring will have a pattern perfectly mirrored against the lady's. <3

There will be more pictures later, but for now.. I was so excited I had to post it! :squee:

(OMG it worked! When I realized that and I saw the pattern for the first time.. I nerdgasmed..)

This is a really outstanding piece. Having the line right the way through is a technical masterpiece but also design brilliance :D

D'awh.
(It is very Swedish to be humble about one's brilliance. It's a social no-no and "forbidden" to brag over here. It is very frowned upon to be proud over one's accomplishments.. But hell, I know you're right! ;) )

I just don't know enough about what you're doing here to be able to make an intelligent comment. I mean, it looks cool and I'm fairly certain that, given a hundred years, I would not be able to duplicate it, but otherwise, I'm carrying my lunch and walking to work. On the other hand, something that gives one a nerdgasm..well, that has to be pretty fucking special.

So :squee: back at ya..!

Well, I wouldn't be able to do this sort of things unless I had customers, right? You are just as important (or even more so) as any "knowing craftsman" - Because if you don't like it, I'm toast. Since then no one would buy it.

Also, you cheer me on, make me happy and inspire me! And that's worth more than gold to me!
