A Story to Live By
My brother-in-law opened the bottom drawer of my sister's bureau and
lifted out a tissue-wrapped package. "This," he said, "is not a slip.
This is lingerie." He discarded the tissue and handed me the slip. It
was exquisite; silk, handmade and trimmed with a cobweb of lace. The
price tag with an astronomical figure on it was still attached. "Jan
bought this the first time we went to New York, at least 8 or 9 years
ago. She never wore it. She was saving it for a special occasion. Well,
I guess this is the occasion." He took the slip from me and put it on
the bed with the other clothes we were taking to the mortician. His
hands lingered on the soft material for a moment, then he slammed the
drawer shut and turned to me. "Don't ever save anything for a special
occasion. Every day you're alive is a special occasion."
I remembered those words through the funeral and the days that
followed when I helped him and my niece attend to all the sad chores
that follow an unexpected death. I thought a

As the title of this journal states, I’m taking the opportunity to open up commissions!

So here's the layout for how I'll be handling commissions.

Gallery Subject MattersGallery

Bullet; Green What will I draw?

*Animals (This does include anthropomorphic animals and non-anthromorphics.)

*Anything resembling a 1950s/60s' retro/vintage style (Think Googie architecture or mid-twentieth century artwork done by artists such as Saul Bass or Shag. This is one of my specialities.) I'm also fair with art deco and 1980s geometric art.

*Backgrounds

 *Book covers

*Classic cars (Ranging from the early 1900s to the mid-1990s.)

 *Event posters

*Holidays (National ones are preferred, but I can make exceptions for lesser-known holidays.)

*Logos for brands, companies, products, etc.

*Original characters (Be they original or fan creations.)

*Public domain characters (From things like world mythologies, fairy tales, classic literature, etc. If you want a drawing done of a public domain character, please come knowing that it is indeed accessible to all where you're from. Most of the time I will know, but if there is some obscure public domain character I've never heard of and am not sure if it is or isn't public domain in the U.S., I will need to know about it.)

Bullet; Red What will I not draw?

*Controversial or offensive topics

*Excessive violence or gore

*Fanart (This is a tricky topic to handle. I understand that fanart is often a popular request for commissions, but I will not sell fanart for profit. However, if you happen to be the original creator of a series or character or if you're an representative of the property, and you give me permission to illustrate for you, I will gladly comply.

Also, if you're going to request your fan character to be drawn, I will not draw him/her/it with an officially trademarked character.)

But I am willing to make a deal regarding this topic. I’m willing to throw in a free fanart sketch once the commission and transaction are complete, as a way to give my thanks and add in something extra, but only if you inform me.

Otherwise, no fanart will be given.

*NSFW (Of any kind.)

*Political or religious material (No attacks or opinions of any kind. In regards to the latter, however, if it's something that can be genuinely used for spiritual practice, such a church service, PM me and maybe we can work something out.)

*Realism

Here's my $0.02 Payment MethodsHere's my $0.02

:bulletyellow: Payments can be made through PayPal! I also accept checks in the mail. Cash can also be sent, but for your own safety, it would be wiser to use any of the other methods mentioned prior. When using PayPal, pay in 'Goods and Services'. For more information on how to pay, you can refer to this handy-dandy tutorial I found on DeviantART. Credit goes to :iconghostlyharmony: for creating this great guide!

Tutorial: Buying Commissions with PayPal by GhostlyHarmony

:bulletyellow: Special notes - do NOT send the payment as a gift. If you do, you could result in both accounts possibly being banned. And do NOT type in an email address when you're paying for your purchase. Thank you.

:bulletyellow: I have a preference for being paid upfront and then giving the design to the customer. However, if the price adds up over $30, I'm willing to accept one half now and the second half later once the design is finished and it's ready to be given. No complaints about prices.

:bulletyellow: I won't accept points as payment. No exceptions.

:bulletyellow: Additional changes to a work-in-progress may be charged ($10), but changes to a drawing during the thumbnail phase will not be charged.

For these types of commissions, I'm willing to give you a quote and work with your budget.

Conditions
Bullet; Blue I will take up to five commissions at a time. So first come, first served.

Bullet; Blue A maximum of three characters are allowed for a piece. Additional costs ($20) for more characters.

Bullet; Blue I'll work with any size, but the largest size I'll go is a 16 x 20.

Bullet; Blue I reserve the right to refuse service to a customer.

Bullet; Blue If for some reason something happens where I cannot complete the commission, I will inform you of this notion.

Bullet; Blue If you're not comfortable with me posting your finished piece onto DeviantART or any place else, please inform me firsthand and I will respect your wishes.

Bullet; Blue However, I do reserve the right to post a commission onto my website, my portfolio and my social media.

Bullet; Blue Small pieces can probably take a few days to a week, but larger pieces could take at the most two to three weeks. But the latest I can give a commission is at the end of a month depending on circumstances. Therefore, I have the right to work on every commission I receive at my own pace until I'm happy with the results.

Bullet; Blue  I will show clients the sketches first before I move onto the next step of the drawing process. If for some reason you don't like the sketches, say the word and I'll redo them for you until you're happy with them. But once the sketch is done, it'll go straight to color; thus, the sketch will not be changed. However, in the stage of progress, you are free to ask for changes. But if you do, there will be an extra charge. See up above in the payment section for more detail.

Bullet; Blue Once you have received your commission, you are free to do what you want with it: use it as an icon/avatar/profile pic for your social media, use it for role-play purposes, print it off your computer and hang it on your wall, use it as your desktop/phone wallpaper, or use it for your company/product.

But under NO circumstances are you allowed to do the following:

- Post it on your profile page or upload it to your gallery without permission.
-Claim the artwork as your own when you didn't make it.
-Upload it onto some page on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, Pinterest, Youtube, other social media platforms unless given the ok. I upload the artwork on many of these platforms myself.
-Sell it as your own product unless it's meant to be sold (as in the case of logo designs.)
-Remove my initials, logo or website link.

I expect to be credited with the work, so wherever you post it, credit MUST be given.

And that's about it! I covered just about everything I wanted to cover, so if there is a question you might have, chances are I'll have covered that already in this post, so be sure to reread this journal again. But if you have any questions regarding anything I haven't mentioned, send me a note!
