Reverse Little Mermaid: Ursula by FablePaint Reverse Little Mermaid: Ursula by FablePaint
Auntie Ursula doesn't question why Ariel wants to leave the ocean. Her brother Triton is a royal wad of whalesnot. BUT, she warns, beware those surface boys. And Ursula would know, she did the same thing herself...once.

Reverse!/Mirror universe ideas are always fun. This makes me wonder how The Little Mermaid would go like this and what Ariel and Triton look like in this universe.

Love Auntie Ursula's design and backstory. Interesting idea that she herself had fallen for a surface boy!

I love this so much. I adore seeing characters in films and such being placed into reversed roles. And she looks so gorgeous.

So she's like a huge tentacled version of Edna Mode from The Incredibles?

I'm already sold!

I just simply adore these Reverse Disney works...they remind me of the Shattered Glass Transformers stories and the Mirror Universe Star Trek episodes :D the concept of taking villains and making them heroes, and visa-versa, has always been a wonderful trope that I thoroughly enjoy.

Oh man I have a lot of feelings about the Jungle Book, especially the original story. Might give that a spin now that you mention it.

Well, I always like Mowgli and Kaa's scenes most. Meaby you can make Mowgli agresive and cruel and make Kaa just trying to calm him down?

The villain designs always have so much more character and diversity than the 'protagonists', so I'm really loving this series so far!

I want to see Disney make an effort to show more nuanced versions of these characters like they did with Maleficent.

Ursula is the one character I want to see get the Maleficent treatment. And yeah, switching the protag/antag around and trying to break down what makes them still feel Disney is a really fun challenge.

She looks so bad but so great at the same time it's hard to say if she's really bad or not

But the comments below are what I'm feeling

She'd be considered "bad" by her society's standards just for being a witchy queer outsider who is remarkably honest (to the point of being rudely blunt), but that doesn't mean she's actually awful. She's the voice you need when facing a hard choice. She'll cut through the bullshit and get straight to the heart of the problem without any care about dancing around niceties. Some people don't like her because of that. But she commands a world of respect from anyone who's actually met her.

I absolutely love this version of Ursula. I love that her shapes and color palette still make her recognizable as Ursula, but her softer expression and the addition of the brighter pinks and golds makes her look less like a villain and more like your kooky twice-divorced bisexual aunt.

Totally. I didn't have to change much of her design (nor did i want to). Mostly by softening her nosetip ever so slightly and adding a crapload more jewelry did the trick. Also I put an octopus in her hair.
