After working on this piece for two months it is finally in its final stages. I intended to create a border for it in the next week. This is a "personal piece", ever since I was diagnosed with cancer (which I am sure most people are tired o f hearing about) I fell into a depression. During that time I reread Thomas Moore's "Dark Night of the Soul" and followed it by his "Original Self". Moore relies on many sources including Jung and his imagery. Moore states that Dark Nights of the Soul contains many hidden secrets that if we allow them, the darkness can bring forth gems not only about self but also about care for the soul. The piece is entitled "Mother Dark". I am sure one can find many Carl Jung's symbolism in the images. I don't really like to explain my work so I leave it to the viewer. It was drawn in Corel Painter 12 with the mirror tool for symmetry, painted in Photoshop with many brushes that I created from photos of lace, clouds and alchemy symbols. I hope you enjoy.
This is positively gorgeous. I can certainly see a personal passion in how this one was handled.
It's very good to see that you feel healthy enough to resume your artistic pursuits. Take care of yourself.
Long illness is a recipe for depression, and cancer - is one of those where the outcome isn't ever certain. I'm glad you've beaten it so far - keep fighting, because you know there are people out there who care!
