Haha I can assure you that these three photos were taken in quick succession, using the same exposure values, and that no dodging or burning was used. All the light comes from behind the rocks on the right of frame, and yeah, as you said, if you could be up there and see the scene you would understand.

Firstly, thank you Jan for taking the time to critque this.
I think I could have indeed handled the exposure better, in terms of the lighting on the left. In retrospect, I should taken multiple exposures or used a grad filter. I suppose it was rushed since I was trying to snap it off before the dogs moved. But none the less.

Fair enough man, I definitely think if i shot this again i would using 3rds for the comp with 2/3 fg and 1/3 sky.
