I watched Marie pacing back and forth yelling into her phone. She finally gets a day off from her job and her mom is going to make her go home and baby sit her little brothers and sister. Marie said that her mom had recently gotten a new boyfriend so I assumed her mother had seen this as a perfect chance to get a free baby sitter so she could go out with her new beau and get acquainted properly, if you what I mean.

"I'm so sorry Sofia but I have to go home and take care of the brats. I can't believe my mom would do this to me! I barely get any days off and she has to go and ruin them! I can't wait to get out of that wretched house!" Marie vented as she gathered up the couple of bags she had acquired from our shopping so far.

"Its fine Marie really. Besides I have homework I have to get home and do anyway. No big deal," I said as I stood up from the hard wooden bench and stretched before I gathered up my things and took them back to my car. I didn't have much to carry. The only thing I bought had been a couple of nail polishes and they fit into my purse easily.

"Its not fine! I don't why she thinks she can just order me around like this! I'm seventeen and will be eighteen in a couple of months! God, this is so unfair! I guess I will catch up with you Monday at school Sof. See ya," she responded as she stormed off to her car, mumbling curses all the while.

I smiled and waved as she walked away. When her focus shifted to getting into her car I slumped back onto the bench. My milk chocolate hair fell in front of my face as I sighed and rested my chin on my hand and leaned sideways onto the side of the bench. What to do now? I certainly wasn't going to go home and work on that homework I mentioned. It wasn't that I was lazy or the work was too hard. It's just so boring and consumes too much time in my opinion. Plus I had all weekend to finish it.

I looked down as I flipped my cell phone open. It was about 4:30-ish and I didn't have to be home until midnight, at the latest, since I didn't have school tomorrow. I buzzed my lips like a brass player and looked around at the gigantic shopping center surrounding me. I decided to not decide on anything and sat there, people-watching. I saw a young woman with disheveled dirty blonde hair. The bags under her eyes made her look like she was packing for an extended vacation and the fussing toddler in her arms explained everything to anyone who was wondering why she was so unkempt. A guy that looked about my age walking at a fast pace distracted my focus from the women. He looked like he was about to be caught for shoplifting with the way he was glancing quickly back and forth. I didn't realize I was staring at him until he glanced my way and we made eye contact.

His eyebrows rose as if he was surprised to see me but I was positive I had never seen this guy before, even though he looked familiar. We kept making eye contact until he about tackled a middle-aged man who appeared to be balding. Our staring contest ended as he apologized over and over to the man who looked more and more annoyed at him. He started walking away from the man and I could have swore I saw a light pink blush on his caramel skin when he looked back at me again and our eyes met again, but this time very briefly.

As he vanished from sight, the older gentleman came over and sat down on the opposite side of the bench. He grinned at me and I gave a weak smile back. I was uncomfortable sitting here but I didn't want to be rude and get up just because this man sat down on the same bench. At least he was on the other side of the bench and not all up in my personal bubble. Inch by inch I wiggled my way over to the far end of the bench so I was as far away as possible.

"You two looked like you knew each other," the man said to me, with that creepy grin still planted on his face. Maybe he was just making small talk.

"Actually we've never met before," I responded disinterestedly. I didn't want to be forced into a conversation with this man. I got my phone out and pretended to text someone.

"I bet he wishes he knew you. You are a very beautiful and sexy young lady," he said, his voice getting lower and more intimate. I felt chills go up and down my spine multiple times. Even though he hadn't moved the space between us felt a lot less than it had a minute ago. It seemed like he was breathing on the side of my face and into my ear. I knew he was watching me. When I turned to face him I found that he was looking at my shirt and I knew he wasn't doing it to find out what the comment on it said.

I shot up from the bench immediately and walked away as quick as possible. I felt my face go red. I was so furious I could feel the flames in my eyes. I turned around and saw the pervert wink at me. I flipped him off and turned back around. This time I kept my eyes glued onto the floor. I wasn't concerned with where I was going; I just wanted to get as far away as possible from the man.

As I made it out of sight of the man I slowed down and kept checking over my shoulder to make sure I wasn't being followed. When I was sure that the pervert was gone I turned and shut my eyes and sighed. This sort of thing would only happen to me. I shook my head and felt myself collide with someone.

I fell back onto my butt and heard someone else hitting the ground in front of me. I buried my face in my hands and let my hair shield me as I was sucked into a pit of embarrassment.

"I'm so sorry," I mumbled repeatedly into my hands hoping the person would just get up and walk away, leaving me to wallow on the floor. After I heard silence for a couple of moments I slowly and slightly raised my head. I moved my fingers so I could peak out and see if the person was still there. As my eyes focused on the figure that was still sitting there in front of me, I recognized him as the guy from earlier. He was criss-crossed-applesauced in front of me; staring at me just as he had earlier, only this time he was smiling kindly and holding my purse. He leaned in closer to me and I felt my heart beat faster as he neared. I closed my eyes as I felt him tuck my hair behind my ears and gently pull my hands away from my face.

"Are you going to look at me?" he spoke and I couldn't believe how easily words flowed from his mouth. It reminded me of a warm honey and enveloped me in its soft caress. I opened my eyes. His eyes were a brilliant green that mixed perfectly with his rich caramel skin. His face was as smooth and blemish free as it had been across the mall. He was more perfect up close than anyone I had ever seen before. He was close enough that his breath fanned out across my face and I inhaled a sweet scent of peppermint. He smiled at me softly.

I sat in a daze as I absorbed the extent of his perfection. I didn't realize he had gotten up and was offering his hand to help me until he waved it in front of my face to get my attention. I blushed nervously and took his hand as he helped me up. I felt my face turning a slight pink color when I discovered how sweaty my hands were. I wiped them on my jeans and stood there awkwardly.

"Thank y-you," I stuttered as faced him and bowed my head slightly in appreciation. When I met his eyes again he was staring at me admiringly, like I was the only girl he had ever seen. I felt unusually comfortable under his gaze and I didn't know what to do so I just continued to stand there rocking back and forth a tiny bit. I looked back at the ground and I thought he would just walk away. I let out a small gasp when he grabbed my hand. I looked up at him and he just tilted his head to show that we were going somewhere.

"Where are we going?" I tried to keep my voice steady, but my heart was about to leap from my chest.

"Where do you want to go?" he asked me. I shrugged my shoulders and let my feet fall in step with his. I felt him intertwine our arms so that our bodies were as close as possible. I was still completely comfortable for some reason. I had always been shy and awkward around boys but he made me feel safe and comfortable, like I had been this close to him my whole life. I felt myself get a warm feeling inside and a smile crept onto my face.

"We should get something to eat so we can get to know each other," he said.

"Yeah that sounds great..." I stopped as I discovered I didn't even know this guys name. I began to laugh hysterically because of this fact, not because I thought it was funny but because I was embarrassed. I figured he would look at me like I was crazy and ditch me but he just looked at me, chuckled and shook his head.

"What are you finding so amusing?" he questioned with a raised eyebrow.

"Well actually I just had a fit of embarrassment because I realized we don't even know each other's names," I told the complete and bare truth. That really surprised me because usually I left out parts of my thoughts when I talk to people. "Mine is Sofia, in case you were wondering."

"Well I am enchanted to meet you Sofia," he took my hand and lightly kissed it while glancing up at me. "My name is Azir."

"That's a wonderful name, Azir. I don't believe I have ever heard of anyone else named that. It's very unique," the words came easily to me. It was exactly what I was thinking.

This is the beginning to a story I am writing for a Language Arts class. I'm not confident that this is good but I'm putting it up anyway....

Lol most likely the only people who will read this will be my friends and I bet they will say its good (because they are my friends) but I don't think I'm going to believe them.

Sorry Friends! (you know who you are)

P.S. Isn't my chapter title so original? You don't even have to read the story to know exactly what happens!
