Sapphire Ocean

... there were some very lonely days in middle of Atlantic Ocean. On some troubled days, I was gazing down into deep sapphire abyss under water veil...

... and then, my mind wandered away to admire that majestic ocean life- that different life that no man can access.

And it made me to feel happy.

If you ask me what is the colour of Atlantic: pristine deep sapphire blue.

Painting 70x50 Arches watercolour (I think only hot press smooth Arches paper is good, not textured one/cold press) + watercolour and acrylics technique.

what are the differences you can point between hot- and cold-pressed paper? your experience is valuable for me.

Cold press is textured/grainy paper while hot press is smooth. And also I find that hot press paper captures more vibrant colours than cold one - and also better for details.

Hope that helps :)

This is breathtaking! So incredibly stunning and the colors are just vibrating!
Are the animals done with acrylics or mixed with watercolor? I haven’t tried mixing the media myself before but the result looks absolutely amazing!

Acrylic base, I mix acrylic with liquid inks to get perfect smooth consistency :) Acrylics are too "rough" to gain that smooth texture so I use basic white and mix with ink pigments.
