Spotted this meme floating around and figured why not?

Name: evphaedrielle
Age: 36
Meaning behind your username: Ev is from Eve which was the name of my computer back when I created this name.  Phae is from Phaedra of Greek mythology.  Driel is a common ending for the names of angels, and le is just to make it more feminine.
Favorite music: I love a smattering of just about all kinds of music.  Indie, folk, kpop, electronica, jpop, american pop, rock… Suffice it to say, my playlists are pretty eclectic.
Favorite movie: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Favorite TV show: Sherlock and House of Cards, amongst others
Hobbies/interests: Writing, drawing, D&D, BJD, RP
Random fact about yourself: I have no sense of smell.

1. How long have you been in the hobby?
Since 2006.

2. How many dolls do you have at home?

Nine full dolls and one floating head. (I was only going to have two, I swear >.>)

3. What are their names and sculpts?

Sashi - Elfdoll Wu
Zephyr - CP Delf Chiwoo
Arch - Luts SDF Odin
Hyx - Luts Winter Event 2010
Mitten - Soom Taco
Ikiri - Soom Bygg Starlight Prince
Tiny!Zeph - Fairyland Little Fee Chiwoo
Kite - Luts SDF Vega
Lockleven - Soom Flint

Floating heads:
Birch - Luts SDF Dion

4. Which doll have you had the longest? How long has it been?
Sashi was my first, and I got him in 2006.

5. Which doll is your favorite?
I really love all my dolls for different reasons, so they’re all my favorites.

6. Are you waiting on any dolls now? If yes, which one(s)?
Not at the moment.

7. What is your grail doll?

I don’t really have any grail dolls in the sense that I want a doll that’s limited or hard to find. Although for a long time I pined over an Luts Dion, and finally managed to snag one when Luts brought them back as SDFs a couple years ago.  I have dolls that I want to own, like an Esthy Rad or a Luts SDF65 Cyan, but none that I’m vehemently searching the secondhand market for or anything.

8. Did you learn to do something new because of this hobby? (e.g. photography, painting, sewing)
I’ve been a writer and an artist for a long time, but I have learned a lot about photography since I joined this hobby.

9. Have you made any friends you might otherwise not have because of this hobby?
Yes, some very awesome people who are dear to me ^__^ <3<3<3

10. What are your doll plans for this coming year?

I would like to get Birch his own body, that’s my number one doll priority this year.  Other than that, I’m eternally looking for a head for Tiny!Sashi and there’s always the chance that I’ll give in and wind up with Vale as an SDF65 Cyan...

Tagging Nezumi-chuu because you need to be doing this, yo ^^

Who was your first doll? Do you still own him, her, or it?

Sashi was my first doll and yes, I still have him.

Which doll do you hope or plan to buy next?

I’m still on the hunt for a head mold for Chibi!Sashi, so if I can find one, he’ll be next.  Otherwise, I don’t have any current plans to buy any new dolls [we’ll see how long that lasts--lol]

Quick! You've instantly got $800 and must choose a doll to spend it on right now or it's gone forever! Who do you pick?

A body for Birch since he’s sharing at the moment, otherwise, as said above, a head mold for Chibi!Sashi.

Quick! You've instantly got enough money for any one and must choose a doll to spend it on right now or it's gone forever, but this time you have to buy the doll for someone else! Who gets the dolly, and what do you get them?

I’d give it to Nezumi-chuu so she could get Nexus or to buy clothes for Chibi!Jun and Chibi! Lan since I know they both need bigger wardrobes for all their tiny cuteness ^^

Are you currently waiting on any dolls, heads, or bodies?

No, not at the moment.

Do any of your dolls seem to like you to the point that they are infatuated with you?

Um, no >.> They’re just dolls, and the characters they represent have their own lives that I don’t exist in.

Do any of your dolls seem to dislike or even hate you?

See the above.

How many characters do you have in your story (if there is a story)?

All my dolls represent characters in various stories.

Sashi [Elfdoll Wu] and Zephyr [CP Chiwoo] are from Streifen.

Arch [Luts SDF Odin] and Mitten [Soom Taco] are from Eden [a world created by Nezumi-chuu]

Hyx [Luts SDF 2010 Winter Event], Ikiri [Soom Bygg Starlight Prince], Kite [Luts SDF Regen], and Birch [Luts SDF Dion] are from Bridge.

Chibi!Zephyr [Fairyland LittleFee Chiwoo] is from an alternate universe version of Streifen.

Who's your most expensive doll at the time you purchased them, not counting items you bought separately for them?

Birch, but only because his ears cost an extra $45, which puts him over the cost of my other SDFs.

Which doll had the shortest wait so far?

Zephyr. I ordered him on November 17, 2006 and he arrived on November 23.  Shortest process and ship by Luts ever.

Who’s the biggest doll you own?

Any of the SDFs [Arch, Kite, Birch, Hyx].

Got any floating heads? If yes, how likely are they to receive bodies anytime soon?

Yes, at the moment Birch is in need of his own body.  I’m hoping to save enough within the next six or so months to get him one.

Got any floating bodies?

I have a Soom tiny body that’s waiting for Chibi!Sashi to find a head mold and claim it.

Do you have any extra, unclaimed pairs of eyes? How many if so?

All sorts, but I’ve never sat down to actually count them out.

Do you have any extra, unclaimed wigs? How many if so?

I have a few that are old wigs that I’ve replaced with newer ones and one that I own because I like it, but don’t have a character for it [despite the fact that I’ve bought two new boys since I’ve owned the wig XD]

Anything you’ve said “never” to in the hobby that you later gave in to?

Oh, I said I’d never own any dolls after getting Sashi and Zeph.  I held to it for four years, but since then it’s all been downhill.

Do you own dolls that aren’t BJDs?

No.  I don’t have any particular interest in any other dolls.

What was your last doll-related purchase?

A few items of clothing for Kite and some Christmas/VDay items for :Nezumi-chuu:’s boys that are on their way.

What do you expect your next doll-related purchase to be?

Probably clothes.  Several of my dolls need to extend their wardrobes.

What was the last doll related thing you purchased in person?

I’m sure I’ve bought something from :Nezumi-chuu: in person [not hard as we share an apartment XD], but I can’t remember what it might have been in particular.

Your opinion...

Journal Entry: Thu Nov 18, 2010, 1:57 PM

Can I have it?

Okay, so Luts is having their winter event and I've managed to scrape up enough cash by working a bunch of extra hours to order my Odin.  A while back I got his antlers on a Sphaler split and ordered his wig from nDoll [it's this wig-->… the perfect match for color and just needs some cutting to match his style] but in order to really create the Arch that I see in my head, there's still a decision to make: eyes

Due to the changes that occurred while he slept encased in the ice, Arch's eyes lost a lot of their color [they were a very dark blue] and have bleached out to be very light with a dark ring around the edge.  That's all well and good for his written character self, where I can do anything I'd like, but now that he's going to be a doll there's a bit of reality to be had and I'm worried that with his white skin, it'll be too much lightness going on.

Here's the two sets of eyes that come close to what I was thinking:
Best match:…
And these:… [although they're sold out atm]
Almost there:…
Also almost there:…

These are the closest I've found with the light blue and darker ring, but if anyone has suggestions for other companies [or if you've had this company's eyes and they are not good] let me know!  Thank you all very much in advance for your opinions ^__^

In other news, there's two-ish weeks left in the semester and I'm trying to bust through all the work so I can do things I'm more interested in, like drawing and writing and Christmas presents.  I did manage to squeeze in some shots of Sashi today, so those will go up in a bit once I can get them sorted.

Christmas is looming large [especially given that there's another holiday and the end of the semester in between now and then =__=] and I've recently collected some awesome little crafty items for upcoming holiday gifts.  I think half the fun is looking for the pieces and finding just the right ones.  Glitter.  There will be glitter ^__^

Hoping to squeeze in some fun things this weekend around the research and assignments.  I'd really like to do a photoshoot with one of the boys, so after all the school work times, that's the first thing on the list.  Somewhere in there I'll be aging a year as well.  : / Should be fun.

...catching up...

Journal Entry: Thu Oct 14, 2010, 3:21 PM

Bullet points because it’s Procrastination Thursday and I really need to be getting onto studying and writing that closed memo for Legal Research. Boo.

• 30 day challenge:  Yesterday was the halfway mark and I’m happy that I’ve been able to post a sketch each day without falling behind.  I guess overall it’s going good?  Not that I expected to suddenly improve leaps and bounds just because I’m sketching something each day, but I’m hoping to create some habits and if nothing else, just to practice.  It’s occurred to me a bit as I go through this and think about my art in general that I’m not a risk taker and I really have no idea why.  I fall to my default things a lot and rarely seem to shift out of the box and there’s no real valid excuse for it.  What’s the worst that can happen, I throw the sketch away?  I do a lot of that anyway, so it seems like I just have this need not to produce things that are utter crap even if I’m the only one who sees it—hence the defaults.  Unfortunately it means I won’t get better if I don’t try and that’s something I need to try to keep in mind when I’m sketching.  Overall, I’ve had fun drawing my various characters and it’s been nice to see some of them in drawn form for either the first time ever or the first time in years.

• I recently picked up a couple types of special papers needed for upcoming holidays.  Buying papers makes me happy, especially when I haven’t worked with one type before and now get to play around a bit.

• Halloween times! XD Almost here and while I don’t have any special plans for the night, I really do love this season and the fun it brings with it.  It’s an entire holiday about the spookier side of the world and as usual I’m celebrating the lead-up by watching shows about haunted places.  Why I do that, I have no idea because it just freaks me out whenever I’m in old buildings or on old land, but I still do it every year.

• Still working on a few writing prompts [like Arch’s next piece of back story] and a few more that I’ve had ideas on.  That’s one thing my long commute is good for—thinking up new writing prompts.  Need more hours in the day and as soon as I can get them, I’ll be all over them.

• A couple of weeks ago I had some delicious Vietnamese summer rolls with rice noodles, basil and shrimp and I’ve been interested in making my own, but have no idea what the sauce was that was served with them.  It was a brown sauce, sweet and not spicy at all, maybe with a little soy?  Anyone know what I’m talking about or what’s in it?

• I love my characters and their S.O.s, have I said that recently?  They make me so, so happy just to watch as they go about their lives.  Love them.

I've been thinking about doing a sketch-a-day challenge for a long time now, but have never buckled down and committed.  Now that I have two jobs and go to school full time, it seems like the perfect moment to kick it off. XD  I'm keeping the rules simple: make a sketch. One a day. Any subject/theme. No need for clean up, just scan and post in scraps.

Obviously the point is to improve and to force myself into the habit of drawing something every day, even just a rough sketch.  Lets see if it works...

Salt caramels have won me over. I may not be able to eat regular caramels ever again.

The cute of Lagoon Engine is win. I want to draw cute kids like Sugisaki Yukiru. >.<

Supernatural and Dexter return next week!

My netbook now has the cutest vinyl decals from Etsy. Decorated laptop makes for happy during long library hours.

Ugh, school is crushing me under mountains of chapters to read, assignments to complete, papers to research and write, long stints in the library, and attendance at court trails.  Good times.  *crushed beneath stack of textbooks*

But! Halloween is coming!  I've got some little things planned for a few peeps, nothing much given the time crunch, but I can't let the holiday go unnoticed.  I love fall [even if we're no where near feeling like it here in the Southeast] with apples and leaves and beautiful colors, so the addition of ghosts, black cats, and general spookiness makes it all the more awesome.

So Sharpie makes that new liquid pencil that supposedly flows like a pen, but is erasable up to 24 hours before becoming permanent.  Work [good work, not annoying work, for those in the know] recently acquired a few and one made it's way to my desk and was promptly sketched with.  I was not overly impressed.  It's designed as a cross between mechanical pencil and gel pen--good grip and a clicky top [dangerous for those of us who will click idly without realizing it] with an eraser included.  However, unless you're holding the pencil just perfectly the flow of the liquid graphite is weak and faint.  It may just be the way that I hold the pencil and my personal tenancy to angle it to the side.  It did erase very nicely and cleanly.  It was fun to try but at the end of the day I'll stick with my old basic mechanical pencils.  Sometimes it's all about the classics.

Still working on the August ac, but hope to have it up sometime next week.  I got slammed this holiday weekend with homework and the best I could do was get it all flatted.  Too many things, not enough hours.

Yesterday I managed to squeeze in a oneshot writing piece for an alternate universe story with Sashi and Lan.  It's here if you want a short, slightly sad yet sweet bit to read--> ...rain...038. Rain
Sashi [alternate universe unrelated oneshot]
Fat droplets of water shake from the closing umbrella, pattering against the brick underfoot just before the bells chime when the door is pushed inward.  The smell of fresh coffee is immediate and strong, welcoming when the city outside is drenched and the cloud-heavy skies above promise little relief.  The umbrella stand beside the entrance houses only two others as I drop mine in beside to drip dry on the towel carefully arranged beneath.  The coffee shop is small and narrow, with four battered tables in the space between the counter and the front windows.  Its worn appearance is to be expected in a part of the city so close to the university where everything is slightly shabby and older, but it's dry and clean which makes it inviting to the students.
Leather messenger bag slung across my shoulder and caramel-tinted fingers raking through slightly damp bangs, I arrive at the counter just as

Arch will be a Luts SDF Odin once I have the cash in hand to get him. Thanks for everyone who gave their input a couple of journal posts ago.

Sashi [Alternate Universe] requested by onnawufei

1. There are only two people Sashi doesn't mind being around for more than a few minutes: his brother, Zeph, and Nezumi-chuu's Lan.  Each one has grudgingly gained his trust in their own way and in his own way, Sashi can actually relax around them.  Sometimes.

2. Wears glasses during class hours not because he needs them to see, but because it seems to make the humans respect him more.  The lenses are just clear glass.

3. Spends his lunchtime each day smoking, usually standing alone in a room packed with other smoking teenagers.  Only Lan is allowed to break that barrier and join him, although they rarely speak and generally just stand there enjoying one another's presence.

4. Has been plagued by nightmares since he was very small.  They're often violent and when combined with his magic, will often lash out at anyone who's around.  Several other Dark have been killed or severely injured as a result, earning Sashi a room of his own whenever he's at Nova and adding to the hatred the rest of his faction holds for him.  When at the school, however, the nightmares are far less frequent and chaotic…

5. Is the academic leader of his class, but has managed to get out of the duties that usually come with that station, such as class president or homeroom rep.

6. Loves spicy foods and prefers to eat something spicy in every meal [even dessert].  Living in a South Korean boarding school, that means lots of kimchi.  The people who work in Dining don't even bother to send his tray out without some kind of kimchi, even if Sashi didn't specifically order it.

7.  Is one of the senior captains of the school's soccer team despite his disinterest in his teammates.  His cold receptions to their presence seem to have no effect and whenever he's not in his room or actively attempting to avoid them, there's always at least a few players hanging around him.

8. Keeps his room ridiculously neat and almost completely free from personal effects.  He's learned from growing up on Nova that messy belongings are quickly stolen and personal or sentimental items are destroyed or held for ransom.  It gives his room a very sterile, severe look, at least to the few students who have been permitted to cross the threshold and step inside.

9. Shared a kiss of sorts with Lan and now often finds himself replaying that memory over and over in his head, recalling how soft and warm the other teenager's lips were, even though he knows he shouldn't.

Okay, so #9 isn't exactly true anymore given what's currently going on in the AU RP, but since that part is happening right now and therefore not posted, #9 can remain as current fact. >3

On the random, I'm totally addicted to this kana game right now-->…

School starts next week and it's making me pacey and fidgety.

I actually drew two and a half things that I didn't immediately throw away. Progress.

SO behind on the monthly ACs right now, but working hard to catch up.

I'm so over this summer heat crap. When is fall? November here in the South? Not cool. >.>

Hoping to get in pics of Sashi and Zeph this weekend. It's been way too long since I did some photography.

So slow to get these done >__<  Both Sashi and Zeph were requested, so here's Zeph first:

1. Post 9 facts about your character.
2. Tag 8 other characters.
3. Post their names with their creators' avatars.
4. [Dutchie Rule] You can tag back!

Zephyr [Alternate Universe] requested by Nezumi-chuu

1. Has known pretty much since birth that Sashi is his brother and loves and is loyal to him in a way that’s not typically the norm between Selestarri siblings.

2. To that end, he feels as though he’s failed Sashi in a way because he hasn’t been able to protect him from the rest of the Dark faction and the abuse they heap on the telepath.  It’s a shame he holds on to and doesn’t really talk about, but there are times that it eats at him inside.

3. Has no interest in authority figures and what he considers to be stupid rules.  If he doesn’t see the point, he doesn’t follow it.  This often lands him with detention, punishments, extra chores, etc.

4. Made the mistake of beating the entire board game club at the school in a record breaking rout of Stratego and is now followed around during school hours by a pack of adoring dorky puppies, all begging him to teach them.

5. Really enjoys watching Nezumi-chuu's Jun play DDR.  He knows he shouldn’t so much, but Jun’s just so graceful and fluid when he plays and it’s more than a bit captivating for Zeph.

6. Is confused about this sudden fascination he seems to have with Jun’s skin.  He wants to touch it just to find out if it really is as velvety and soft as he imagines and the feeling is so driving that it makes his hands itch.  Right now he’s chalking it up to some kind of curiosity that will pass once he can just touch a little, so we’ll see how long that [wrong] assumption lasts.

7. Zeph’s favorite animal is a cat.  They can be warm and loving, always looking for cuddling, but then cold and disinterested when they wish and he’s pretty on board with that.  He’s never owned one and has always just fed the ones that live in the fortresses on Nova.

8. Has really been loving the Korean candies since coming to this school.  He likes the Orion whole almond candy and Pepero.  It’s not uncommon to find either one tucked away in his bag.

9. Is beginning to admit to himself just how cute Jun is.  As a boyfriend. Friend. Just a friend. O.O

I'll re-tag Nezu and ask for the AU versions of either Jun, Lan, Halacie, [<--hers would make me laugh so hard] or Taz.

onnawufei requested Sashi, so he'll be up next. <-- If there's a specific timeline/AU version of him that you want to see, let me know  ^__^

new character, doll mold question and future stuff

Cascadian Farms makes the best chocolate chip granola bars.

New job is working out great so far.

Hunting for new PS brushes is as addictive as hunting for new fonts.

Working on a new drawing that I hope turns out good >__<

A few weeks ago I posted the first of a set of intro stories about Arch, a new character [and a new race] that I completed for Eden, a world built by Nezumi-chuu  This has all been in process for a while, as I explained a bit in the notes for the first story and is now finally getting put together.  I’m so loving it since I haven’t created a full out race in a long while and each time I write for Arch he grows on me a little more.  Learning his ins and outs [because really, when do characters ever completely stick to the traits we assign them? XD] has been a lot of fun and I look forward to seeing his personality really emerge the more he gets out into the world.

Here’s his first two stories and a random pic of him:
...breath...034. Breath
Arch [Dream's Long End, Part I]
Not even the darkest, most fathomless reaches of sleep are immune to dreaming.  True the sounds are somewhat muted, the colors washed out, the entire scene seeming as though it were taking place on the other side of a thick pane of glass, but nonetheless it pervades.  It comes on quickly with no warning, one moment surrounded by black stillness and the next within a vast army or a spanning forest or a grand castle.  Those within the dream cannot hear or see you, an intruder in the guise of a phantasm as you stand within these moments of their lives, silent witness to whatever has passed.  Sometimes the events are mundane, the birth of a child, the toil of workers in a field, the bustle of markets in a city, other times they are more prominent, the coronation of a queen, the murder of a noble, or a great battle of opposing armies, and on the rare occasions, they are so strange, so foreign that they canno
...cemetery...001. Cemetery
Arch [Dream's Long End, Part II]
The trees line up along the bank of the frozen river, long rows stretching beyond the edge of vision like silent guardians standing watch.  They are sacred to the Elkinphyr, the trees that had once been ingrained in their history, their culture, their entire structure as a people.  Deep mossy green, almost black trunks and limbs with a crown of silver white leaves lend each one an air of elegance and grace.  The trees in this column are not the massive, spanning ones that had been so prominent in every village, they are much younger, the magic that had forced them to grow quickly still visible on their bark and leaves as a faint glimmer.  Like all else in the Valley of Bryhnn, they are incased in ice, even the aboveground tangles of roots and the precious stone box nestled within.  These are funeral trees, sentinels over the ashen remains of those the ice claimed in the long sleep, locked f
...september ac: windswept... by evphaedrielle

And all this leads to where we all knew it would eventually: I’m seriously thinking of bringing Arch out into resin form.  I haven’t gotten a new doll since Zeph in 2006 mostly because none of the other characters that I’ve built between then and now have really felt “right” enough for me to bring out.  < -- that probably makes no sense, but maybe some of the other doll folks get it?  I have a ton of characters, from Streifen and Fracture before that, from fourteen years of playing D&D, from lots and lots of little short stories and whatever else, but I’m really fussy about which ones I want to put the money and effort into getting dolls for.  Arch has made that very short list and so I’ve now got the decision of which mold will suit him best.  After having Zeph and photographing him, I really like the CPs, but so far only the Moon mold [with a few mods] has really stuck with me as a possibility.  I’ve also been staring at the Crobidoll Ys for a while and really like the mold even though I have no experience with their bodies or even any idea of what they’re like beyond the pics on the site.

So, my question for doll owners! If you have a Crobi of any mold, do you like the bodies?  Are they easy to pose?  Any hang-ups or odd things about them [for example, Sashi will not sit on his knees for more than a second because of how Elfdoll strings their dolls.] Would you recommend them or if not, is there a better body alternative out there?  Thanks in advance for any help, I really appreciate it!

Yay for new dolls and the excitement they bring ^__^  I already have Arch’s antlers and wig, now I just need to make a decision and get the rest of him…

Next week I'd like to start another short photo challenge [would start sooner, but there are relatives in town to entertain until Sunday] and I've decided to do a color based theme.  However, I know myself too well and I know that I'd be highly tempted to only pick colors that I could easily use, so that's where I need help.  Pick a color for me!  Please make it something that I can find reference sources for or at the very least, a crayon comparison.  Hex #s from Photoshop are acceptable as well.  I'll take the first ten or possibly a few more if I get super inspired or something.

This should be fun.  Thanks in advance for all the help! ^__^

[Image hosting apparently went awol for the sad cloud journal skin.  I liked that one, too. ;__;  But this one is summery and fluffy, so it'll do.  Please ignore any of the weird links in the CSS, I need to go in and change it all, and will when I have the time.]

ETA:  Colors chosen:

1) Icy blue
2) hot pink
3) eye blinding neon
4) lemon

More help, please?

Okay, so I totally admit to being a fairweather soccer fan [yes, I know the real name is football, but it's what I've always called it, and old habits and whatnot.] World Cup is like the Olympics or the X Games, though, I feel compelled to sit and watch each game as time permits.  Normally I don't watch sports, but I make an exception here.  I played soccer quite a bit as a little kid, usually a midfielder until I switched to field hockey in middle school, but I always enjoyed the pace of the game and the thrill of seeing a goal scored.

I feel that there's some kind of unwritten law saying I have to root for America since I live here, but truthfully I'll root for anyone. If England had beaten the US yesterday, I'd have been perfectly okay with it.  I just enjoy watching and seeing everyone cheer for their countries and have good sportsmanship for the love of the game. <-- I'm so noncompetitive, can you tell?

Anyway, I was inspired to do a little fanart for yesterday's match:

[Also, couldn't resist the new journal layout with the unhappy cloud--it reminds me too much of Sashi ^__^]

...bits and peace...

My ten day photo challenge is coming to an end today and I've definitely enjoyed it.  Apologies for the pic spam, but hopefully it wasn't too torturous.  I'd like to do another one in the relatively near future, something about the same length of time so that I don't fizzle out on ideas or get bored and become slack.  Suggestions?

I plan to take the next few weeks to get some of the backlog of art that's currently clogging up my sketchbook completed.  Things like the May AC, which I'm horribly behind on, some odds and ends that are either in process or need finishing, and some ongoing things that I'm supposed to have been doing, but have fallen off of a bit.  I think I'm finally working out of the two or so month slump where I immediately hated everything I drew, which is a nice feeling for a change.  Still hate my figure drawing and am trying to work it out with everyday doodle sketching during my lunch.  I also have trouble from time to time with thinking of poses or a general idea of what I want to draw, which I know is something that all artists go through, and that I find awfully frustrating.  But, I'm working on it all and trying to stay positive about it, so I'll be happy with that for the time being.

Current reading list: Demon Flowers, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, 07 Ghost, Lagoon Engine and Shinshi Doumei Cross. [< -- Somehow I always end up with at least one shoujo series.  I blame Sailor Moon.  ^.^]

Current viewing list:  Hetalia, which I could not resist because a) insane amounts of adorable b) I love history and geography and while neither is quite correct here at times, my inner dork just can't help herself, and c) five minute episodes are love.  I know that I'm really into something when I'm looking up fanart and reading fanfic.  At a slower rate I'm also watching Durarara and have found that I may seriously adore Izaya.  For reals.

On a random note, I'm happy to announce that yogurt and I are ending our multiple decade Cold War.  The aftertaste has always been the issue despite the appeal of an entire meal in one convenient cup and the dairy protein goodness that we vegetarians need.  Numerous peace attempts were made, aided at times by Strawberries, Blueberries, Mixed Berries, even the renown Pacifier of all Things in Conflict, Chocolate, but the only successful result was a grudging allowance of yogurt in baked goods.  I figured it was simply the Raisin Issue all over again, until I was forced to eat a parfait for courtesy's sake and… actually liked it.  So yogurt and I have mended past offenses, set up a direct line of funding to Dannon and Yoplait, and concluded that all is good in the land, which indeed it is. /silly

Tl:dr version: ten day photo challenge complete, thinking about another, sketchbook stuffs going to PS and then posting soon, current good/inspiring things include various manga, Durarara, and Hetalia, yogurt and I have made a lasting peace.

...home again home again...

Aaaand I'm back to the East Coast! ^__^

I had a very wonderful vacation out West with Nezumi-chuu and her family [including the lovely acid-flier ^^].  Lots of time was spent chatting about our boys, taking pics, buffing up our calves, discovering fortune-mandated treasure hunts for Jun and Zeph, eating tasty foods, talking, and laughing amongst so much else.  As I usually do, I came home very inspired to do art, any kind of art, and that's a very wonderful feeling considering that I've been really hard on myself about artsy things recently.  So once I plow through the piles of laundry and get my room sorted a bit, there are a few projects that I plan to work on:

Photography: Starting tomorrow, I'm going to do a ten day run of pics centered around Sashi and Zeph.  The key is to work on lighting and to spice it up [a la Nezu's suggestion] the pics will exclude facial shots.  Hopefully I'll get some good photos ^^

Drawing: The monthly ACs will continue, of course, and in general I just want to work on my art overall.  I've been forcing myself to doodle every day on my lunch break [instead of just turning off as usual--lol] and while none of that will really go up here, it will still be happening just for practice. I have a couple of other ongoing projects in the works that will get attended to, as well as some randomness for an Angel-Hunt/Streifen AU zine that will be full of silliness.

Writing: The shorts from the Fragmentary Past arc need to get completed and if I'm really on my game, maybe I'll get some of my other projects complete enough to post.  <-- *is optimistic*

On the real life front things are not so awesome, unfortunately.  Not bad, more just annoying.  I take the LSAT in a week, so if I drop off the planet until then, it's most likely because I'm waist deep in study materials.  I'm also on the hunt for a new job since the company that I work for is rapidly folding.  Not that I love working there at all, but I had hoped to at least hang on to this one until I went back to school and that's not going to be the case.  So the job hunt starts, yay. =__=

But! Despite those annoying bits, things are very happy.  The pups are good, the weather is good, and summer is around the corner.  To that end, I'm off for a glass of lemonade and some fresh blueberry cake!
