Prompts Return : Small Item Update

Hello Loonians. crocopossum here with a few small announcements.

Prompts are making a return! In fact, the first one of 2024 will be posted very shortly!

Prompts have once again changed formats slightly, hopefully I have made them more fun and more rewarding to participate in.

My main goal for the new prompt format is to provide a way to earn participation more often. We will be hosting one prompt almost every month. AND your evoloons will earn 3 Participation for participating instead of the usual 1 that they earn in our normal events.

Please check them out and let me know what you think of the changes. Please leave feedback on this journal! NOT on the prompt journal!

The item Sands of Time has received a slight edit to function better with the new Prompts format.

 Sands of Time

This sand-like substance is a byproduct of Travis using his portals to travel between dimensions. Once collected into a modest quantity the sand can be used to temporarily travel back in time.

An evoloon can use this item to participate in a prompt that has already expired. The evoloon will receive the rewards that they would have received from the prompt when it was active. This includes Magic, Participation, Upgrades, and Items.*

One Sands of Time only has enough power for one evoloon. If you want to transport more than one evoloon, you will need one Sands of Time for each of them.

*You can not receive any item that has been retired, or a new Sands of Time

How to Obtain

This item can be obtained from Travis For Hire Tickets OR as a reward from Prompts

How to Use

First, draw/write the prompt. Have the artwork/Literature already made before commenting on Town Square

Second, comment on Town Square with this filled out

Celebration of Jubilee

In Loonia, it is the time of year to show love and caringness to one another. While Jubilee is technically only one day, many other small holidays have formed to keep the spirit going all month long.

Deadline

For the month of February all official events reward DOUBLE the normal amount of Participation, Love Magic, and Gift Magic

General Rules

- You may enter only 1 submission per prompt

- A maximum of 4 evoloons can earn rewards from each prompt. This means you are allowed to include as many evoloons as you want, but only 4 of them can receive Participation and the boosted LM / GM.

- You can include different evoloons in each prompt. You do NOT have to use the same evoloons throughout the whole event

- All prompts are optional and can be completed in any order

- You must mention the name of the prompt somewhere easy to find such as the title, description, or the submission comment.

- You must comment your submissions HERE to receive rewards (only one person in a collab needs to submit)

Art Rules

- At least 1 evoloon must follow the visibility rules (if in collaboration, 1 per artist)

- Collaborations are allowed, but at least one evoloon must be included per artist

(ie: 4 artists = 4 evoloons following the visibility rules)

- For prompts involving companions, the companion must also follow the visibility rule

- Art must be clean (no sketch lines or incomplete/hasted coloring)

- Art must be fully colored. Shading is optional.

- Fully detailed backgrounds are not required. BUT the artwork must include enough for the setting to be understood. (ie: if the prompt is “lost in a forest” you should draw at least one tree)

- Upgrades earned for the prompts may be applied in the submission artwork if so desired

Literature Rules

- Your story must be at least 350 words, and a maximum of 1000 words

- Collaborations are not allowed

- At least 1 evoloon must be visible. For an evoloon to be considered “visible” they must have an involved part in the story

Feed the Birds Day

It’s late winter in Loonia and many wild critters are on their last food reserves. One critter in particular, the swanepillar, is known for being especially bad about running out of food before spring begins. Hence it has become common practice for evoloons to take a day around this time of year to feed the wild swanepillars.

Draw or Write about an evoloon feeding wild swanepillars. What kind of food did they bring? Does the evoloon scatter the feed or do they try and hand feed the swanepillars?

(You must include 1 swanepillar per artist if collaborating)

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS

Whenever you submit please write Store, Sell, or Keep in the comment.

Write STORE to have an egg added to your treasury so you may design the companion and give it to an evoloon on another day.
Write SELL to sell the egg. You will receive 30 Ribbons in compensation.

Write KEEP to keep the design in your artwork. Please make sure to follow swanepillar design rules in your art if you choose this option. If the swanepillar is being given to a different evoloon than in the event art, please also link to the evoloon. For literature submissions you can only choose KEEP if you also link a visual of the companion design.

Thank your Mailman Day

A lot of eggs are delivered this time of year, making Garan the Storkloon a very happy but also very busy bird. It would be good practice to thank Garan for all his hard work if you just happen to see him around. (btw, a little bee told me Garan really likes chocolate. hint hint)

Draw or Write about an evoloon doing or preparing something to show appreciation towards Garan. (It is not required to include Garan in the submission)

Jubilee Day

Jubilee Day is a Loonian holiday that celebrates love and friendship. Regardless of if an evoloon’s special someone is a romantic partner or a platonic best friend, today is the day to celebrate that bond.

Draw or Write about an evoloon celebrating Jubilee Day with another evoloon. 

(If your evoloon is a loner but you still want to participate in the prompt you can always draw someone else’s evoloons and can still earn GM.

Rewards:

- 2 Participation awarded to each visible evoloon (max 4)

Random Acts of Kindness Day

As important as it is to show appreciation towards loved ones, it’s also important to show kindness towards your fellow evoloons, even if they are strangers.

Draw or Write about an evoloon doing or preparing something that would benefit another evoloon. This can be anything from handing out useful items, to directly helping another loon with some chore, or even filling potholes on a commonly used path.

Rewards:

- 2 Participation awarded to each visible evoloon (max 4)

- This event yields double LM and GM

- 1 upgrade of either Halo or Round The Clock (per visible evoloon, max 4)

Love your Pet Day

Last, but certainly not least, evoloons shouldn’t forget to show love towards their beloved companions as well.

Draw or Write about an evoloon doing something for / spending time with their pet. They could be giving it a treat, playing with a toy, or even taking them on an adventure. Both Loonian and non-loonian critters are allowed for this prompt.

If your evoloon does not own a pet but you would still like to participate in this prompt, there are plenty of critters in Gaia’s sanctuary that your evoloon can volunteer to care for for the day.

Rewards:

- 2 Participation awarded to each visible evoloon (max 4)

- This event yields double LM and GM

- A choice of 1 Gaia’s Flower or 30 Ribbons (to each artist if collaborating)

Completion Reward

If you complete all 5 prompts for this event you may choose 1 evoloon egg.
You may choose any evoloon race EXCEPT for cursed.
When submitting your fifth prompt please list what egg you would like to receive.
If you do not want an egg, please say so and you will receive 100 ribbons instead.

The event has been cut down and altered some, but 99% of this is all them.

Day 1 - Snow Fun

Evoloons awaken all over Loonia to find powdery, soft snow blanketing the entire earth.

What a fun winter surprise!

Draw or Write about evoloons enjoying the snow. They can be playing in the snow, building with it, eating it, simply enjoying the scenery, etc.

Rewards:

- Participation rewarded to each visible evoloon.

- 1 upgrade of either Paw Wings or Hands (per visible evoloon, max 4). The upgrade can be given to any evoloon you own.

Day 2 - In For A Storm

Uh oh- the sky has turned dark and the winds are picking up.

Looks like Loonia is in for a storm. Time to take cover.

Draw or Write about evoloons spending an evening inside waiting out the storm. 

Do they light a fire? Cozy up with blankets and a hot beverage?

Pass the time with games? Etc.

Rewards:

- 1 Participation rewarded to each visible evoloon

- 1 Upgrade of either Pouch/Pockets or Patches/Stitches (per visible evoloon, max 4), The upgrade can be given to any evoloon you own.

Day 3 - Bundle Up

The storm lasted all through the night. It’s finally morning and WOW it is cold!

There’s lots to do today so the evoloons should bundle up to stay warm.

Draw or Write about evoloons doing something to keep them warm. They can be putting on warm layers, brewing/drinking warmth potions, applying upgrades, etc.

1 Participation rewarded to each visible evoloon

1 upgrade of either Fluff or Plumage (per visible evoloon, max 4). The upgrade can be given to any evoloon you own.

Day 4 - Frozen Over

Oh no! Some evoloons walked all the way to the lake only to find out it’s been completely frozen over. After traveling so far to get there you might as well try to make the most of it anyway.

Draw or Write about evoloons spending time at the frozen lake. Do they try to complete some chores like initially planned? Gathering wood / attempted ice fishing / etc.

Or do they have fun instead? Impromptu ice skating maybe?

1 upgrade of either Hooves or Flippers (per visible evoloon, max4). The upgrade can be given to any evoloon you own.

Day 5 - Watch Out!

woah. Woah. WOAH! A wild frozequin has appeared from out of the bushes and is now rapidly sliding across the ice directly towards the evoloons!

Draw or Write about evoloons meeting the frozequin. Do they strike out sliding into each other? Is the frozequin on the attack? Or perhaps they’re just curious or want food? 

(You must include 1 frozequin per artist if collaborating)

Day 6 - Dire Misstep

Careful, the ice is thin *crack* …here  *crACK* - uh oh.

Draw or write about an evoloon falling through the ice. You can depict any point of the incident from the initial crack to the aftermath.

Day 7 - Shortcut

After the impromptu plunge into the lake the evoloons decide to take a shortcut home through the woods. They were sure it was this way, but now it appears they might be lost…

Draw or write about evoloons lost in the snowy woods. Are they panicked, is it spooky, is there anything in the woods with them?

1 Upgrade of either Natural Horns or Natural Antlers (per visible evoloon, max 4). The upgrade can be given to any evoloon you own.

Day 8 - Why Is It So Toasty?

The day has turned to night and the evoloons are still lost in the woods. They don’t have much choice but to bunker down and wait for morning. At some point in the night they wake up feeling strangely warm and… fluffy? You’re friendly, right?

Draw or write about evoloons waking up to find a Great-Horned Lion sleeping practically right on top of them.

Day 9 - Rattle Rattle

Well hello there! A dragochick has appeared and is trying to get your evoloon to follow them. Being completely lost, your evoloon decides to follow hoping they will somehow recognize where they are along the way.

Day 10 - Look To The Night Sky

After a very long walk following the dragochick the evoloons can finally see home sweet home in the distance. Just before the evoloons make it to their doorstep a bright streak of color flashes above as an aurora borealis fills the sky.

Day 11 - That's not snow

The next morning comes with a warm breeze that melts most of the snow. While removing the remaining piles away from their home an evoloon finds a very solid lump of snow that is unexpectedly heavy. Wait - that isn’t snow at all! That’s a snow swine!

Design Rules

- General anatomy must be similar to what is depicted above

- They can have any natural object stuck anywhere in their wool. Rocks / flowers / seashells / feathers / etc.

- Depicted above is the least amount of fluffy they can be. You can add even more fluff if desired.

- The tusk size can range from non-visible to warthog sized

- Adult size can range anywhere from micro piglet to giant forest hog

- They can have any colors or patterns

- The glow on the nose tip is optional

Day 12 - Loonmas!

It’s Loonmas Day!! Time to celebrate!

Draw or write about evoloons celebrating Loonmas. 

(The name Loonmas is obviously a spoof on Christmas, but it is still a made-up holiday with no “correct” way of depicting it. Please draw whatever holiday activities you prefer to celebrate.  Or even feel free to make up something completely new just for evoloons.)

Hello Loonians.

    This is @crocopossum here to give you an update regarding the summer event.

    As many of you know, Evoloons has hosted a large event every summer since the groups creation, the event for the last few years has run from June through August.

This year, I will actually be gone for a good chunk of July due to having top surgery (which is amazing for me, but bad for evoloons). It was my plan to release the event like normal and the rest of the crew would run the event while I was out. Unfortunately, I had to do a lot more doctor/therapist/psychiatrist visits than I anticipated, and all three offices are not in the same town that I live in. Almost every day that I did not have to work I was making a 3 hour round trip to fill out yet another piece of paperwork. And as it has gotten closer to the surgery date I also have been feeling overly excited and the anticipation is making it difficult to focus on one task for very long. All this to say that I haven’t been able to finish writing the event, and my flight is tomorrow. . .

So far I have drafted all the lore, and written all of the actual art prompts. But I haven’t written any rules, prizes, or team information. I could technically slap together the rest of the event with what I have written so far, but I do not want to release a half-baked event. That is not the type of content I like to put out. So, I have decided to postpone the event.

I can not say at this time exactly when the event will be released, but it will for sure be sometime after Artfight is over, and before the holidays begin. The event will be as long as originally planned, it will just be in the fall instead of the summer.

I’m very sorry I was not able to put out the event on time this year. I know there have been some people looking forward and preparing for it, and I hate to disappoint. But I’m hopeful the extra time will allow me to finish the event correctly so that it will be lots of fun to participate in once it does release. For now, approvals will remain open until further notice. And I will make another announcement when the event is completely ready to go.

    I hope y’all have a good summer doing other activities, and I’ll talk to y’all again after I've recovered from surgery!
