Rules

• These rules are for prompts 1, 2 and 3. Prompt 4 has different rules that are written further down in the journal.

• You may participate in this event with drawing or writing.

• Drawn artwork must contain at least 1 evoloon that follows the visibility rule.
  The background must contain at least 2 objects that match the setting.
  (example: setting - magic library. objects -  bookcases, floating candles, spell circles)
  Shading is not required. Only evoloons who follow the visibility rules will receive participation.

• Written word submissions must contain at least 1 evoloon that has dialogue.
  “Dialogue” can be spoken out loud, in their head, or body language.
  The setting must be conveyed in some way by describing the environment or nearby objects. There is no minimum word count as long as all criteria is met. Only evoloons who have an active part in the story will receive participation.

• All prompts are optional and can be completed in any order.
  You may repeat prompts only after all three have been completed at least once.

• The completion rewards can only be claimed once.

• This event ends on Nov. 30th at 11:59 PM IDLW time

Prompt 1: X Marks the Spot

For a few weeks now Loonians have been receiving letters scribbled in an unknown language. While no one has been able to decipher what the words say yet, there is a crudely drawn map on the back with an X marking a spot nearby to Tadpole Shallows. Several curious loons have already left to find whatever is marked on the map, yet none have returned thus far….

Draw/write about evoloon(s) traveling across Loonia towards the X on the map

Setting: outdoors in autumn
Object examples: red leaves, warm clothing, pumpkins, toadstools, migrating birds, cornstalks

Rewards:

Prompt 2: Mirage Manor

As the evoloons cross the border to the Tadpole Shallows the thick fog parts revealing an old, seemingly abandoned manor. As they draw closer faint music and laughter can be heard from somewhere. Once inside the evoloons quickly get distracted by the massive, maze-like interior filled to the brim with all sorts of spooky knick-knacks. 

Draw/write about evoloon(s) exploring the manor.

Setting: dark spooky manor interior

Object examples: cobwebs, statue busts, taxidermy, fancy furniture, eerie shadows

Prompt 3: Fairtime Fun

After what felt like hours the evoloons arrive at a giant door where the music and laughter can be heard clearly and loudly on the other side. To their surprise, they open the door to find themselves back outside, but instead of an empty swamp the manor is now surrounded by a fair in full swing.. Music, food stalls, games, rides - even the missing evoloons seem to be here! A large sign hangs over the entrance that reads “Mirage Manor Fair - open tonight only!” With only one night to join the festivities the evoloons head right into the fair without a second thought.

Draw/write about evoloon(s) partaking in any typical fair activity; eating festival food, checking out the rides, carving giant pumpkins, etc…

Setting: harvest carnival

Object examples: ferris wheel, popcorn, balloons, bunting, clowns, pies, ring toss, prize stands

Prompt 4: Mirror Mirror

In the middle of the fairgrounds stands a simple tent without any signs or markings. Inside is a large mirror and a letter that reads. “Whomever rhymes while peering at me. To thee I give a gift with glee.” It seems to be asking evoloons to look into the mirror and make up a rhyme. No one has really figured out why the mirror is there or why it wants evoloons to rhyme, but some of the evoloons who have completed the task leave the tent looking differently than when they entered.

Loonia has been quieter than usual. Although the quiet is a welcome change amidst the chaos of previous years, the Order feels its time Loonia has another celebration to bring everyone’s spirits up!

The Order and some older Evoloons realized they never taught the younger Evoloons about some of their past celebrations, two of which were beloved: the Firefly Festival and the Glow Festival. This year, the Order has decided to combine both festivals which includes telling the legend of Caligo and the Beast of Loonia.

This year, Loonia will go back to its roots and host a light festival for everyone to enjoy food, games, music, and more!

Free Upgrade Chance

Some mischievous little loonlings have painted glowing dots on some Evoloon eggs. It has long since been deemed safe to paint on evoloon eggs but this time it seems to have had an odd effect on the loonlings inside!

For the duration of this event, from August 18th to September 1st, players may choose to add ONE of these two upgrades to their Evoloon’s approval and/or have Novaleen bless their current Evoloons with one of the two upgrades!

• Glow - The glow can be placed anywhere on the Evoloon's body. It can also be used to make special hidden markings.

OR

• Insect Abdomen - Your Evoloon can have a tail that resembles the abdomen/tail of any natural insect.

In order to put these upgrades onto your current evoloons, you must draw them (or make an edit) with their new upgrade within this event's timeframe AND link this journal in the description! You can include this as part of an Event Submission or it can be it's own separate drawing.

Evoloon Approval Rules

• Due to this event being smaller, players may only submit 2 Evoloon approvals per week instead of the standard limit of 4 approvals per week. At this time, there is only one mod on application approvals and this is to prevent overwork.

• In order to have your Evoloon approved on time and in a smooth fashion, please submit your approvals here and follow the provided guide for easier judging!

General Rules

• All prompts are optional and can be completed in any order

• All prompts can be submitted to as many times as you’d like

• Submit your entries to the Events Folder

• Please include the Event Name and Prompt # in the title or description of your submissions (e.g. Fireglow Festival #0)

• Required Evoloons must follow the Visibility Rules

• Art does not require a background

• You may NOT reuse old backgrounds

• Shading is optional

Literature Rules

• Entries must be a minimum of 350 words, up to a maximum of 1000 words

• Required Evoloons must both be named in the literature, and do/say something to be considered “visible” for the entry.

• Please include a link to included Evoloon's Approval Images so we can see who you’re writing about

Prompt #1 Party Preparations

In order to host a party, you have to prepare for it first! The Order has encouraged everyone to help out where they can, no matter how big or small.

Draw/Write about your Evoloon helping prepare for the Fireglow Festival! Are they hanging up banners or lights? Are they collecting fruits or making games? Do they make cakes or perhaps practice telling the Caligo’s legend? Maybe they brought the cups?

Prompt #2 Attracting the Fireflies

The Fireglow Festival can’t be the Fireglow Festival without fireflies! The Order wants to attract as many fireflies as possible but they’ll need a good way to do it…

Draw/Write about how your Evoloon attracts some fireflies. Do they try to make a sweet solution? Have they consulted a book? Maybe your Evoloon has decided to collect some in a jar? Gaia is always a good ‘loon to ask for help too!

• +1 Garan for Hire Ticket per submission (3 MAXIMUM)

• Visible Evoloons you own earn 1 Participation each (claimable once per Evoloon)

Prompt #3 Paper Lanterns

With the "firefly" part of the Fireglow Festival found, there needs to be something else that glows too!

Draw/Write about your Evoloon crafting or painting on paper lanterns. What are they painting on the lantern? Classic fireflies, Caligo, or something completely different? Are they crafting a lantern that will fly in the sky or float down a river?

• +1 Travis for Hire Ticket per submission (AUTO-ROLLED; 3 MAXIMUM)

• Visible Evoloons you own earn 1 Participation each (claimable once per Evoloon)

Prompt #4 A Million Fireflies

Night has fully fallen and the fireflies are out! The party was booming before but now everyone can release their lanterns and dance with the fireflies underneath the night sky. Happy Fireglow Festival everyone!

Draw/Write about your Evoloons enjoying the Fireglow Festival! They can share stories with one another, dance, play games, or simply enjoy the light show. It’s a time to have fun, so go have some fun!

REWARDS

• +1 Weather Beaten Chest per visible Evoloon (AUTO-ROLLED; MAX 3 SUBMISSIONS)

• +1 upgrade of choice per visible Evoloon. Upgrades can be given to any Evoloon you own.

Extra Rewards

It’s optional to complete all of the prompts for the Fireglow Festival but if you do you can claim some extra rewards! You can claim these rewards multiple times as long as the artwork is unique.

• For completing 2 unique prompts: you can earn x1 Firebutt Turkeysnail Companion OR x1 Moonglow Fuzzbuzz Companion!

• For completing all 4 unique prompts: you can double the amount of Love Magic AND Gift Magic for all of your submissions!

Hello loonatics!

I have a few reminders for the end of melamalgam season and a few other announcements.

Deadline Reminders

The Operation Starfruit event is coming to a close in just a few days, it closes when it is no longer March anywhere in the world. (11:59PM IDLW, March 31st) It’s time to wrap up any artwork/literature you have for the event and get those last minute rewards!

The Melanoid / Amalgam Season does not close at the same time as the event does. You will have a little under a week to use any eggs you earn from the event. The seasons officially close when it is no longer April 6th anywhere in the world. (11:59PM IDLW, April 6th)

Please get your evoloons submitted for approval before the deadline.

If you need to buy or trade any hatching items from Town Square to be used while the season is still active, please make your transactions by April 4th at the latest! Any transactions made after that date are not guaranteed to be processed in time.

Temporary Closes

ALL evoloon approvals will close along with the end of Melanoid / Amalgam season. Evoloons only need to be submitted for approval before the seasons end, you will still be allowed to make any necessary edits to evoloons after the deadline. Regular approvals will reopen on May 1st at the latest. We may reopen sooner than that but it is not guaranteed.

Sometime during the break the Town Square will be closed for remodeling. An announcement will be made 24 hours before it closes.

Eclipse Migration

As you may have seen, groups are being migrated to match the DeviantArt Eclipse format. Our group could be migrated at any second now. After the migration our group page is going to be functional but ugly for a bit. We will work on getting the front page fixed up after we finish approving all of your evoloons.
I don't anticipate having to close any group functions while we get everything sorted, but if that does happen we will make another announcement stating so. Thanks for your patience while we work on it!
