Cursed Egg by LoonianVault
Cursed Evoloons are normal Evoloons who are born with upgrades (taken from the list at the end of this journal) but also with curses. They evolve like any other Evoloon, but in a more challenging way. A Cursed Evoloon is born with 1 mandatory curse and 1 upgrade, but you can add more curses to your Evoloon, which also allows you to add more upgrades. See the Curses section for more information.

The Cursed Evoloons are designed to be a fun challenge for older members, but still not be too daunting for a newer member to try out. Their special ability directly challenges those who have Evoloons unlocking upgrades for them, however you can choose your level of difficulty by adding more curses too!

To make a Cursed Evoloon, you need to hatch an egg earned from Trial of the Accursed.

Anatomy and Creation Rules

Art by rascal4488
  • Cursed Evoloons are Normal Evoloons born with one upgrade by default, but can be born with up to three upgrades depending on the number of curses chosen.
  • Only normal Evoloons can be Cursed;
  • The eyes of Cursed Evoloons are one solid colour;
  • The upgrade(s) a Cursed Evoloon is born with can be any color;
  • The upgrade(s) must be chosen from the list at the end of this journal;
  • The mandatory white parts must be present and visible and cannot be hidden or obscured by an upgrade;
  • Mandatory white parts, like the fawn spots, must be placed on/over the upgrade (example: fawn spots on a carapace) if applicable;
  • Markings can go on the upgrade;
  • All chosen curses (if you add additional ones) and all your chosen upgrades must be listed in the description of your approval art;
  • All the other creation rules still apply;
  • If you get your Cursed Evoloon from an egg, you must link the treasury approval comment in the description of the approval sheet (egg hatching). If you've created your Cursed Evoloon directly after doing the trial, you must link your trial approval comment in the description of the approval sheet.

Curses

Cursed Evoloons don't have bonuses and advantages, they have curses. They are all born with 1 mandatory curse and 1 upgrade you can choose from the list at the end of this journal.
  • Curse of Isolation: Cursed Evoloons do not benefit from any of your other Evoloon's bonuses and advantages (such as the Blessed Evoloon's bonuses, the Ancients' bonuses, the Genoloons' upgrades, ect.). This curse is mandatory for every Cursed Evoloon.
You can pick additional curses to make your Evoloon more challenging. While they are born with one upgrade, you can add two more from the list (to a maximum of three) for a price... For every curse you add to your Evoloon, you can add one more upgrade, to a maximum of 3 upgrades in total, including the original one. Novaleen can't help the cursed loonling past that.

Meaning:
  • 1 curse (the mandatory one) = 1 upgrade
  • 2 curses (including the mandatory one) = 2 upgrades
  • 3 or more curses (including the mandatory one) = 3 upgrades
There is no limit to how many curses you can add to your Evoloon; just be warned: Once approved, the curses are finalized and can no-longer be changed or removed.
  • Curse of Bad Karma: The Evoloon can only earn half the amount of free upgrades in events. If the amount of upgrades is uneven you round down, and if the event only gives one free upgrade, they receive none. Novaleen still finds it hard to bless the Evoloon with new upgrades, and it's more difficult for the Evoloon to master new upgrades while going on a big adventure.
  • Curse of Bad Luck: The Evoloon is not able to use Upgrade Stones/Gems. Those are not strong enough to get through the curse.
  • Curse of Failure: Category unlocks must be done twice. If you are using the Trial of Categories for unlocking, the trial must be twice as long. Magic disciplines are harder to learn for the cursed Evoloon.
  • Curse of Hardship: The Evoloon only earns half as much Love Magic as normal.
  • Curse of Loneliness: The Evoloon gets no benefit from heart-bonding (affect only the Cursed Evoloon; their partner, if not cursed, will still benefit for it as usual).
  • Curse of Magic-less Friendship: The Evoloon can have pets, but they get no benefit from their companions.
  • Curse of Normality: The Evoloon needs to use two Power Potions to earn a superpower from them. The Evoloon needs more potion to go through the curse.
  • Curse of Poverty: The Evoloon cannot earn upgrades from Mod YCHs. The upgrade wizards are unable to apply upgrades on the Evoloon.
  • Curse of Sadness: The Evoloon is so sad to be cursed, they start off heartbroken.
  • Curse of Struggling: The Evoloon cannot earn/use Quest Points, because they can't learn upgrades from just interacting with their environment. Exception: If an upgrade can be earned with quests only (formerly requiring an action), the Evoloon can get it with quests, but has to do twice the work to get the upgrade. Example: The Evoloon will need 2 quest points to get a rank 1 upgrade that can be earned by doing quests only.
The following curses are mutually exclusive. You can only pick 1 of those for your cursed evoloon. They can be combined with the previous curses.
  • Curse of Restriction: The Evoloon is strongly attuned to one discipline/category, so it's harder to unlock and get upgrades from other categories. The second category costs 2 times the work to unlock and get upgrades, the third category costs 3 times the work and so on. This doesn't include the Basic Discipline since this one is natural to Evoloon, meaning your Evoloon can earn basic upgrades without being affected by this curse. You have to choose the "order" of the category your Evoloon will use/learn. If you are using the Trial of Categories for unlocking, the trial's length is also multiplied depending on the order of choosing your categories.
  • Curse of Slow Learning: It takes twice as much work for the Evoloon to gain/learn upgrades (magic, participation, quests, etc.)
  • Curse of Weakness: The amount of work needed to get an upgrade is multiplied by the rank of the upgrade (rank 1 = normal effort, rank 2 = 2 times the work, rank 3 = 3 times the work, etc.) as higher ranked upgrades that are harder to master.

:bulletred: Warning: Be careful with your choice of curses if you are not comfortable with maths. The mods are unable to assist with magic based calculations associated with Cursed Evoloons.

Breeding

Cursed Evoloons can only pass down their original colors. They cannot pass down their upgrade(s) or their curse(s). See the Breeding Guide for more details.

Trading a Cursed Evoloon

The Cursed Evoloon will be heart-broken and won't be able to get new upgrades until the new owner mend their heart. The curses will still be active and cannot be changed or removed by the new owner. You can find the general trading rules in the Trading Rules journal.

Breaking Up With a Heartbonded Cursed Evoloon

When a heartbond is broken, both Evoloons have their heart broken, meaning they cannot gain new upgrades until they have their heart healed. The curses, for the Cursed Evoloon, will still be active.

Bases

To design your Cursed Evoloon, you can use one of the official Evoloon bases of the normal Evoloon and modify it to add the chosen upgrade(s). You have to credit the base to Evoloons in the description of your approval sheet.
