I defy anyone to say that they haven't at least though about doing this for real. This was inspired by anther work, thats still in progress, that my machinery just seems to detest.
This work was unusual in that I went straight into Maya with out needing a concept sketch first.

Countless times...

Sometimes because I'd be playing some super hard fighting game; other times because I couldn't get the damn machine to boot properly.

I can't do it :( on a laptop... ah well, a nice concrete brick should suffice.

 looks amazingly real, and brought a smile to my face. Well done.

Yes, I confess that I secretly wanted to do this. I wanted to do that to a crappy Dell computer that wouldn't cooperate when I was trying to reinstall WinXP on it. This was a computer that belonged to a friend of mine that got screwed up. I had to restore it back to factory settings for my friend.

There were a few times I almost lost patience with the damn thing as it was a low end cheap, cheap, cheap Dell ($200 new). I had to not toss it out, as I repair all my friend's computers for a side income. Computer guys are supposed to be cool and calm when facing computer problems. I had a secret fantasy of dropping the Dell off a very high skyscraper to see what would happen.... :evillaugh:

I assume the reason that you didn't need a concpet sketch was because the image was burned so deep into your mind...
