Tea Kettle

Quick story: When I was a kid I fell in love with this tea kettle. like much of our stuff it had been in the family for generations, but this particular antique had been in a house fire and one side of it had been warped (I photographed its good side ). For some reason my little 8 year old mind felt bad for the kettle and decided to take care of it myself by polishing it often.

Anyway, durring my teen years my parents were making their will and asked my brother and I what we wanted if they passed away. My brother asked for a bunch of stuff, but all I wanted was this tea kettle.

A couple years later we moved and the kettle was lost. I was so upset and searched the new house, the old house, and boxes....I gave up thinking it was gone for good. Then last year I went to visit my uncle and there atop his fireplace was the kettle. My instant reaction was, "Who Gave You My Tea Kettle???!!!!" I then looked at my mother who had this odd expression on her face. All she could say was, "Oh! I forgot I gave that I him." Needless to say the kettle is back at home with me. It's not as shiny as it was from when I was eight, but I still love the damn thing.
