Hello everyone, we're back with Everyday Grind comic 26! I for one am excited for this comic!

As you may have noticed, there is a substantial update to the look from this comic to the pervious ones. I felt that the comic needed a serious facelift, as more and more each day I realize more and more of the shit that I did wrong on the old ones!

This is our first "self aware" comics, sort of breaking the 4th wall here. I got the idea for holiday comics about a month or 2 back, and didn't have to try too hard to convince Loren to go along with it.

There are a few other firsts about this comic besides look and story:

-This is the first time we see Norman, Jamie, Figs and Paunch, our main 4, together in a single comic.

-Norman is wearing his casual clothes, which was the original outfit that I designed him with before his collared shirt and slacks.

-This is the first time I have drawn Jamie without her hoodie and hat. She does not wear shoes in houses, and I figured might as well leave other "outdoor" clothes out too. It is wierd seeing her like this, but I like it. It is her casual dress code.

We do hope that you like it! Next comic we will be continuing with the story, and begin seeing some old friends coming back!

Thank you so much for your patience, and we hope you stick with us!

Happy New years from me, and also from Loren since he is not here :meow:

-Ben and Loren, the guys at No Easy Answer

Cool to see 'em all together. And Jamie soon changed her tune. :XD:
This sums up New Year's in a nutshell, really. Nice one. :)

I agree with Norman in what he says, but I also agree with Jamie in the fact that it's a special day to spend with your beloved ones =)

it really is. I hated new years for ages, thinking it would be a pointless day for people to be drunk from the night before, but as with all holidays, we must remember how lucky we are, and count all our blessings :)

Norman looks so different in casual clothes. Looks good on him though! :D
:wow: T-that's Jamie?! Wow she REALLY looks different without her hat on. I thought she had thicker eyebrows? It looked cute. But I like that she doesn't wear shoes inside, it's an interesting character quirk. n_n

yeppers, lol! they all look so wierd! Jamie especially! her look has changed a lot since this, but she will always look wierd without her hat :D

This was the first style update I did after "unveiling" the comic to the world, trying to clean up some messy design choices. I think her thick brows were cute, but it was so difficult to keep her feminine, and her hair covers so much of her already small face, that I needed to change them to give me more wiggle space, lol.

I made a lot of changes here, and even more in the future! I have finally settled on a look that works well for me, I am always striving to make them better, so I made this to help me see where I was going, and where I came from [link] it is pretty surreal!

and yes, she HATES it when people wear shoes indoors. Plus she loves to be barefooted whenever she can (trait from my wife, lol! I think it's adorable) and it works really well for her character, thank you! :aww:

That's why I try not to have a uniform outfit for my characters, I'm afraid they'll become unrecognizable if they're not in it. But I think Jamie is still pretty easy to recognize amongst the rest of your characters. :XD:

Ooh, style updates are good! Yeah, I can totally understand. It's hard to show expression and stuff, too.

Oh my god those really are some massive changes! Jamie looked kind of like Meg from Family Guy. I lol at the first version of Paunch. Did you name him all the way back then?
I should scan some of my super old drawings and do one of those! It's funny/horrifying to see what I used to think was good stuff.

That's a nice trait. I guess she comes from a home that never wore shoes inside huh? Hehe, that's cool! I also like how you modeled a lot of Jamie after your wife. Is very cute. <3

ahaha, well there can at least be some defining characteristics for them with every outfit! like dymentias skulls  I am running into that uniform problem now, as I want Jamie to have other outfits in her spinoff comics, but I want people to be like "okay thats her" we will see though :)

ahaha, she did look like meg, didn't she? whats sad is I used to be a HUGE family guy fan, and didn't even think about it until afterwards :XD: oh well, from now on she will probably have a purple shirt, if she looks like that again :nod

Ah paunch, no, back in the old days he was simply "the yeti". He was a recurring character in cheap comics my friends and I made for eachother in HS. later in life, when I started making EG, I decided to bring the yeti character back, and named him "Edward". However, (patting myself on the back for this one) I foresaw a LOT of twilight jokes coming my way if I kept that name, so Paunch was devised instead :D

But you should do this meme too! I think it will be cool to see where you have come from!

aha, well jamies father is korean (american mother) so shoes indoors are strongly discouraged. She considers it a sign of respect to follow those rules, but she wears shoes only when forced to anyways, just the way she is :aww: she would sooner live without them if she could  I bet Dymentia loves shoe shopping though, she looks like she can have a girly side to her, lol!

Great comic....I totally agree with the fact that New Years is a pointless Holiday. I love how Jamie was trying to be all positive about it and then in the end, realizes that it does indeed sucks.

And the fact that she's showing off her lovely feet is a plus :blushes:

It really is pointless, It doesn't really change a damned thing, and people jist get drunk anyways ;p lol that is what I like about her character, she always tries to make the best of any situation, especially when she sees others who are not happy, because she is sweet like that :D she is based heavilly off my wife, (and a bit of me too, lol) and she is only happy when everyone else is happy first :)

Yep! Her bare feet are always fun, Paunch doesn't wear shoes, and he has huge ugly clodhoppers which are a drag to draw, lol. Jamie's petite feet make it a lot more wortwhile :)
overlordofkings's avatar
Yeah, that's cool that parts of her personality is based on your wife. I always did like the sweet type of gals :D

And a drag to look at  in all seriousness, I really like how you draw Jamie's feet :D

Sweet women are only the best! I am just lucky she likes living with me :D

Oh my yes, I hate drawing male feet, but necesity requires it! And Paunch's are so huge that it is comical, and not that big a deal anymore. Jamie's so just so much fun! I like to think I am getting better and better, I hope you like the way they turn out in the future as well! :woohoo:
overlordofkings's avatar
Well, you won't be married if she doesn't like living with you  but your right, Sweet woman are great.

I agree with you on that. I really do enjoy how you draw Jamie, how old is she suppose to be?

Awww, you are right! :iconblush--plz: I'm just glad she is willing to settle for a big dope like me :D

She is 26, the oldest of the "young" humans. I hate it when people always make female characters 16-19 and make them look like they are in their mid-late 20's. I plan to have a lot more litterature on each character soon, but in the meantime, you can check out her bio! [link]
