The President adjusted the microphone and smiled into the flood of cameras.
“My fellow Americans,” he began, voice smooth as polished marble, “this nation was founded on faith. On Christian values. And I think it’s time we brought those values back to the center of our public life.”
The crowd cheered. Applause rolled like distant thunder.
Legally speaking, there was nothing wrong with what he was doing. The First Amendment stood solid as granite. He could talk about faith. He could pray. He could quote Scripture until the teleprompter begged for mercy.
But there is a difference between invoking heaven…
…and summoning it.
He lifted a leather-bound Bible.
“And I believe,” he continued, warming to himself, “that God supports the work we are doing. In fact, I believe—”
The sky tore open.
Not metaphorically. Not poetically. It split like fabric under strain. Clouds spiraled outward in a widening circle. A shaft of white-gold light poured down, brighter than noon
