He's a trail Pokemon, and he doesn't understand why he never was given a reference and received no love. Because of this, he's a bit lost on what to do. He does like to spar from time to time, but the training gym right now is mostly empty with 2 broken dummies. 
And the floor is pink
Why is it pink he hates pink.
Upon seeing that he likes sparring, his trainer promoted him to being a move tutor with the grumpiest and one of the oldest in the entire ranch, Derek.
Unlike most Pokemon, Blaz sees Derek as he is: an extremely powerful dragon who could curbstomp you if he really wanted to. He didn't learn how powerful Derek could actually be until he witnessed him beat up a particularly stupid student and sent said student straight to the hospital. This is why Blaz teaches status moves and is the test dummy for those instead, even when his BA is drastically lower compared to Derek's.
