Before

He doesn't understand why he never was given a reference and received no love. Because of this, he's a bit lost on what to do. He does like to spar from time to time, and is happy that the gym is slowly coming together.
Upon seeing that he likes sparring, his trainer promoted him to being a move tutor with the grumpiest and one of the oldest in the entire ranch, Derek.
Unlike most Pokemon, Blaz sees Derek as he is: an extremely powerful dragon who could curbstomp you if he really wanted to. He didn't learn how powerful Derek could actually be until he witnessed him beat up a particularly stupid student and sent said student straight to the hospital. This is why Blaz teaches status moves and is the test dummy for those instead, considering his stats are drastically lower compared to Derek's.
Become best friends with Viridian and became gym buddies with Sanjo Jr.
Wants to become a fast fiery child but doesn't want to become part Jolteon. Always wonders who to become when he grows up... 

Now...

He's much more motivated to evolve, and is devastated he wasn't strong enough or a Lucario to help his unfortunate trainer. Supposedly was training with Doodles when it all went down.
