Voting preparation is in progress

You make the choice!

We all have a long journey ahead of us to find out why the spirits in Tokotna are stirring - but we aren't on this journey alone! Many other tokotas, handlers, and companions are striking out into the unknown.

If you meet another traveler on the way who's story excites you, makes you think, or moves you in a compelling way, you can reward them with a People's Choice nomination!

Nomination Criteria

  • You may nominate up to (1) person per category
    • You may nominate the same person for more than one category if you feel more than one category fits their story.
  • You can nominate any other member's event tracker for any of our people's choice awards as long as they meet the criteria.
    • You may only nominate someone once they have submitted their tracker to Final Tracker Submissions. Trackers that have not been submitted for final judging are not eligible to be nominated.
    • No nominating yourself!
  • Tell us why you think their story is fantastic - be descriptive!
  • Entries must meet the following minimum requirements to be nominated.
    • 2 completed Main Chapter prompts
    • 3 completed Side Quests
    • Excellent effort associated with the category subject
    • Submitted before the deadline of May 17th, 2020

Selection & Voting

  • Each award category will have several entries picked by the Events-Of-Tokotna oracles, based on effort and the number/quality of nominations.
  • Once each category has been picked, everyone will get the chance to vote for their favorites!
  • Only one person can win each award; only one award per person.

Nomination Category: Sivoganik's Pupil

Reason for Nomination:

After reading Malzahar’s journey wit his bff Sivo, I was left speechless. I felt like I just rode a roller coaster. From Malzahar’s relationship with his daughter Grace to almost sacrificing an innocent life. He is a true prophet of Sivo, betraying Aippaq and making sure to spread Sivo’s teachings and becoming his dutiful vessel. That to me, proves his dedication to be Sivoganik’s pupil.

Nomination Category: The Michaelangelo

Reason for Nomination:

I absolutely love how Seer did the stained glass effect. It’s very pleasing to the eye and gives you the storybook vibe. Makes me feel like I’m looking at a video game cutscene still. A unique visual style that compliments the expression icons in her tracker.

Nominee's Username: EemsArt

Link to their Event Tracker: Tokota LoRE Event Tracker: Dovah

Nomination Category: Sikrinerk's Herald

Reason for Nomination: While the written portions were shorter in the replies, this did not detract from the story at all as they were still well written and engaging enough to complement the images that were made to tell the story as well. The images are stunning and Dovah follows the word of Sikrinerk faithfully until the very end, where he chooses to give the spirit a second chance. It is a beautiful read and a beautiful story to follow with the lovely images made for the story as well. Wonderful work!

Nomination Category: Nagruk's Champion

Reason for Nomination: Beautifully written entries in the threads for Kaleidoscope, bringing the reader closer to the tokota by touching back towards memories in one scene and expanding on the character in others. The artwork that go along with it is colorful and beautifully done. The character follows Nagruk's advice from the start, and brings the spirit to Aippaq's shrine, believing this was the request. In the end, he follows the correct path and impresses even Nagruk - a worthy follower of the Spirit of the Hunt!

Nomination Category: The Hero

Reason for Nomination: While making a bumbling mistake at the beginning of his journey, Felix makes things right when he meets Nagruk, turning to a new Spirit Guide in the process. And from there, he makes his journey to the end, where he poignantly turns his back on the Greater Spirit he was first aligned to and follows through to shun Meelanik. In the end, he restores the spirit - a wonderfully told story and a very entertaining read, it was very nice to read such a change in the storytelling that made the read wonderful as well as heartwarming in the end.

Nomination Category: Meelanik's Enforcer

Reason for Nomination: It was hard to pick a story that fit this category, but of those that I've read that would best fit the bill, this story about Ygritte seemed to be the most aligned to the dark tokota even if, at the end, they didn't follow the guiding spirit's call. The story is told with a poignant second character observing and seeing the dark path Ygritte is taking. Ygritte feels resigned to her position but, in the end, turns to prove herself stronger than what ties her to Meelanik. Yet the ties and reflection back to Meelanik are written so well that I feel this is a wonderful piece to be entered for this category. Beautifully written work!

Nominee's Username: Lachtaube

Link to their Event Tracker:

Nomination Category: The Michelangelo

Reason for Nomination: Lachtaube's art is stunning. Take, for instance, my favorite piece in this tracker: the Chapter III Main Prompt picture. The emotion in this image is tangible. From the terror and concern in Adrien's eyes to the vicious snarls of both spirits to the sobbing of the lonely spirit, you can feel exactly what's going on in this scene. And how about in Lachtaube's first Chapter III side quest? The tenderness of Aga's gift of a rose paired with Adrien's heart-wrenching moment of regret and his realization that he will never again see this goddess made my heart hurt and sing at the same time. The sunset hues of pink and purple set the scene, and Adrien's expression is drawn so well that the viewer doesn't even need to read the accompanying text for their soul to ache as they look at the pain on Adrien's fluffy little face.

Also...all the paws. Lachtaube's paw-drawing skills alone merit some sort of award.

Nomination Category: Aga's Disciple

Reason for Nomination: This story was not only a beautiful read, but was woven in such a way that Orion already knew of and had a tie to Aga. The closeness of their relationship continues throughout the story and though Orion does not give up the spirit to Sikrinerk in the end, they still tie it together in a way that they were still faithful to Aga - though she could not see the correct way until the spirit is reborn. A beautiful read and a lovely story!

Nominee's Username: @MagpieBridge

Link to their Event Tracker: Lore Event Tracker

Nomination Category: The Pulitzer or The Hero

Reason for Nomination:

Magpie's protagonist, Shadow, makes for a compelling hero who rises above her uncertainty to do the right thing. All throughout the story, Shadow struggles with making choices, especially moral choices, and with her relationship to her spirit guide, Borga. Her journey is fraught with confusion and a lack of clear guidance, and she doesn't always know what the right thing to do is or even whether she can trust Borga. Although she wants to be powerful and respected, and Borga gives her the gift of enhanced physical strength and a terrifying new appearance with giant claws and fangs at the start of her journey, she doesn't use her new dangerous physique for evil or personal gain. Instead, she cares for others and won't needlessly attack another tokota or abandon a child or soul in need. In the end, as she reflects on her troubled past and her concern over the lonely spirit's fate, she finds the strength to defy her spirit guide's wishes and sends the lonely spirit to Aippaq instead of Meelanik, at her own expense. Overall, Shadow's introspective conflict with herself and her ultimate rebellion against her spirit guide in spite of her fear makes for an inspiring story of a rising hero!

Nomination Category: Borga's Soldier

Reason for Nomination: This story was one that was interesting to read between the dynamics with the two characters and Verum's complete devotion to Borga. Not only that, but the stunning stained glass images that accompany the story as the main quests and some of the side quests are absolutely gorgeous. They keep the canon of the character Verum throughout the piece, even making the dialogue for the chapter 3 decision canon to Verum's devotion to Borga. All in all, I feel that this story really fits for a Borga's Soldier and a wonderful read!

Nomination Category: The Mover

Reason for Nomination: Many of the stories had their own unique elements that brought emotion to them, but few took the unique twist to center the emotional ride and end it in such a bittersweet way. The writing for this is stunning, but the emotions brought on by Cream Puff and Aris' relationship as well as how the arc between them ends is just heartbreaking to read. One can really relate to Cream Puff's hurt and feeling of inadequacy that the piece is not just moving from an emotional standpoint but from one that touches the heart spiritually as well. Beautifully written and heartbreaking piece!

Nomination Category: The Michelangelo

Reason for Nomination: Even if one only gives the artwork a cursory glance, it‘s clear that CH has a strong mastery of colour palettes and the fundamentals of art. But upon clicking into each individual deviation, the details make their skill in visual art more apparent. There’s a certain expressiveness in their cartoon style that’s very charming!

Nomination Category: Sivoganik's Pupil

Reason for Nomination: From the very beginning of their story, Malzahar was devout to the word and following of Sivoganik. As the story progressed, he shows his loyalty to the great Spirit of Fear by turning on and turning his back to the ones that were closest to him in the mortal realm. And though Malzahar didn't end up completing his mission as promised in the end, he still stayed devoted and loyal to Sivoganik when all was said and done. A wonderful story to read and an interesting character perspective to start from!

Nomination Category: Aippaq's Chosen

Reason for Nomination: This story had a unique perspective as it was written in the first person - not many chose this route to tell their story. However, it worked wonderfully for the story they told in their entries for LoRE. Throughout the story, they kept the theme consistent, with a gradual drifting from the original entry with Aippaq though the character followed the God to the very end. And the way they tied in the beginning to the ending for their epilogue really solidified it for me that this was definitely the only choice I could make for Aippaq's Chosen. A wonderfully written piece for a wonderfully told story following Aippaq to the very end and staying faithful to the Spirit and his essence throughout.

Nomination Category: The Pulitzer

Reason for Nomination: Of all the stories I have read along the way, I must say that Shekeira's LoRE story was by far the most gripping for me to read. Their mastery of words and literary devices brought the story to life in a way that I almost felt as if I was there with the characters as the story unfolded. The story flowed naturally as well - avoiding plotholes and other writing mishaps that may detract from the story. It was a beautiful experience reading their literature and I hope to see and read more from them in the future.

Nomination Category: The Michaelangelo

Reason for Nomination: Of the pieces that gripped me in the story as well as the visual representation, it was the story of Nishki. The visual pieces for their story were both powerful and brought to life by a vibrant palette that spoke of a wondrous story and environment. Their pieces to accompany the story told a tale that complemented the images naturally and all in all, I think their visual pieces are stunning - worthy of this category in representation and quality.

Nomination Category: The Pulitzer

Reason for Nomination: Following the story of Jonni bothe a little before and during this event has been wonderful. Reading what happened and led up to the start of the event justified in her picking for the spirit she follows. Its an interesting development seeing things change and her path change as well. All in all it's a good read and very fun to take this adventure along with Jonni through the eyes of Angel.

Nomination Category: The Michaelangelo, Borga's Soldier

Reason for Nomination: Such stunning art pieces telling the story of Verum and Silverado. These pieces so stunningly done look like they deserve to be the windows of any Borga temple/shrine as the two do their work as Borga has given them a task. Even reading replies back and forth have been catchy and interesting to watch.

Reason for Nomination: There were several entries that vied for my attention, but time and again, I kept going back to Lach's. There's just something utterly beautiful, haunting, and moving in each individual piece -- not to mention the use of color and choice of environments. The various perspectives keep the entire journey fresh and imaginative.

nomination category: borga’s soldier, the villain

Reason for Nomination:

im so sorry I’m typing this on mobile so it looks positively barbaric BUT

I think much of Finneus’s obsession with Borga (at least, that’s how I interpret it) is the root of his villainy. No, he’s not some maniacal, cackling evil overlord who rejoices in any other being’s suffering, but his passiveness(or maybe the word I’m looking for is like...neutrality) in the face of Borga’s evil is rather villainous in and of itself. And if that weren’t enough, his naming of the spirit as “Morsel” only serves to further that end. When the only reason Finn chooses NOT to feed the soul to Meelanik (another fellow evil spirit) is precisely because of a perceived slight against his and Borga’s bond, I think that solidified Finneus as one of the ice deity’s most loyal followers.
