A Moment

By Evendar
The pair of lads finally found themselves at the edge of the festival, tossing pieces of bread to the fish in the sadly overgrown fountain at the corner of the square.  Cienn giggled as the fish fought over a particularly large piece of bread and felt Gerall’s eyes on him.  He blushed and looked down, brushing his tousled hair from his face shyly.

“What?” he asked, rubbing the back of his neck and tossing another piece of bread into the water, noticing the tiny carvings of merfolk that gave the fountain its gentle gurgle from their mouths.
