Tropical Islands
Another matte painting practice.
The final image looks completely different from my basic idea. During the process I was experimenting with the contrast and changing the composition two or three times. I started the picture with a opening a photo(the cliff on the right side) then builded up the picture using 40-50 photos.
I was enjoying the work on this piece, basicly because I was working on it in my free time as relaxation. Maybe this sounds strange but when I'm drawing, I usually forget all my daily problems and concentrate only on the image.
Originally it was 9000 px wide.

The clouds are my own photographs and the waterfalls are all hand-painted.
I submitted it in a quite big size, so you can explore the picture and find the small details I've put on it.
I hope you will like it! Full size, enjoy it!
**Thank you very much for all faves!!!**

Fantastic ! Thanks for sharing it that big. Yes, the details are very enjoyable!
I have noticed that the reflections in the water are pretty accurate. How did you make that ? Do you have a layer of paintings added to the original water to give it the right color and brightness ? I guess such detail is very important to make the scene look natural. And it works !
The picture itself indeed has a peaceful and harmonious mood. It's very easy to feel that you made this in a meditative way. I too have spent hours on photo-manipulations that were like making a mandala.
