"Same Old Window"

I press my face against the glass
Watching the same days slowly pass
That crooked tree, that silent street
A world that’s on a worn-out repeat

The sky don’t change, the colors fade
But at least I know the price I’ve paid
'Cause once I dared to shift the view
And everything I touched fell through

I wanna see a different sky
But every time I try, I cry
The last time I let the curtains sway
The light came in and took away
More than I could stand to lose
Now I’m scared to change the news
So I sit and stare at what I know
Through the same old window

There’s whispers on the wind tonight
They say it’s time to make it right
But ghosts still haunt my broken frame
Whispering that I’m to blame

The flowers wilt, the seasons stall
I’ve built a cage behind this wall
And though my heart is aching loud
I fear the fall more than the clouds

I wanna see a different sky
But every time I try, I cry
The last time I let the curtains sway

More than I could stand to lose
Now I’m scared to change the news
So I sit and stare at what I know

Maybe one day I’ll be brave
Enough to leave this haunted cave
But for now I stay, I play it safe
