“The most remarkable property of the universe is that it has spawned creatures able to ask questions.”
-- Stephen Hawking

Star Trek Icon

The USS Hawking, the class prototype of the federation exploratory Hawking class.

The Hawking class explorer type starship, named after Stephen Hawking, was one of the most advanced starship classes of the earliest 25th century. The ship has an overall length of nearly 700 meters (698,2 m) and is capable of advanced slipstream travel to cross multiple sectors in minutes instead of days. Hawking class starships were in service for nearly 100 years and represent the backbone of the exploration forces of Starfleet in the 25th Century.

The USS Hawking NCC-81104, the class Prototype, was the at least fourth Starfleet starship to bear the name Hawking, after a Oberth class in the 23rd century, a Nebula class in the mid 24th century and a Merian class starship in the late 24th century.
In the sense of his name giver Stephen Hawking, the Hawking class is an exploration and science vessel which completes the main task of the Federation to gather knowledge, discover new worlds and seek out new civilisations.

It looks like a bigger Vesta. Does she have variable geometry warp nacelles?

No, no moving parts.
From size, its just it bit larger than the Vesta. I think around 20 meters longer if i had it right in mind.
