Trying out the Legacy Station aka the Starfleet Ship Museum.

Unfortunately, something goes wrong on the render. I think there were too many ships that I used. My system has not coped and crashed. In the bottom left corner, he has stopped the render, so had to use a little bling bling and a bit post worked space scene to hide the dead pixels. Next time i must use different layers for that. Therefore, the resolution is lower than my usual images sizes.

Captain's log,Stardate 2442.29.03-Irisa Nyria Recording

The Enterprise has arrived at the Legacy Station in Lunar orbit as part of the annual First Contact Day celebrations. This year, however,First Contact Day has a new signifigance to the Federation.

Although, the Federation has been exploring beyond the Milky Way for decades, this marks the first year that the United Federation of Planets will be welcoming new members from outside this Galaxy. Among the new members are the worlds of of Vhiliinyar and narhii-Vhiliinyar,the home of Ambassador Acorna Harakamian-Li,my legendary predecessor as Captain of the Enterprise, who is expected to give a speech before the Federation Council. Everyone, even the pundits, are already calling this "the Dawn of a New Age
for the Federation."

I cannot believe I'm saying this, but I'm actually looking forward to coming home....Well,I guess I mean back to Earth.

To me,"home" will always be Enterprise.

Regardless of the technical problems, this is an epic shot!  Well done! :)

Thank you! Tech probs are deadly if you render a image in more than 3 hours and the program crashed in the last ten Minutes...:-( At least I could salvage something.

You're perfectly welcome.  Keep up the excellent work. :)

Yeah, I imagine that scene was quite a bite for the ol' processors to swallow.   And 3 hours?!  Admittedly, I find that to be amazing for an image of such scope.  I'd have imagined that the sheer number of ships (which looked rather highly detailed :) ) alone would have been enough to make such a render take a day at least.   Then again, I don't exactly know a lot about render times when it comes to 3D modeling programs.

When I do my stuff, I'll build the components in Blender, but I'll convert them in a program called 3DEXCHANGE, and then assemble and texture them in a 3D animation program called iClone.   In that program, once the textures and such are laid in, the models are rendered on the spot....images usually only take seconds, even heavily populated and detailed ones.   Animations could take anywhere from a couple of minutes to up to a couple of hours, if you're exporting in hi-def (I always export in 1080p).

If you'd like to see some examples, I have some up at my DA page.  I'd love for you to check 'em out (especially my latest K't'inga build) and see what you think. :)

It's usually on the size of the textures, how long a model needs to render. I have models that are done within seconds, but others who need the hours.
I see youre klingon ship. Its a very nice work.

Thanks.  Glad you liked it.  I'm reworking my Constitution refit Enterprise now. :)

Ahhh...the textures.  I honestly didn't realize it was that.   For some reason (my amateurish thinking) I always thought it had to do with polys and faces and such.  But yeah, I suppose if it's large enough textures, that would slow things down a bit, especially for each texture for each component of each ship.

In iClone, even if I have a few highly detailed, highly textured ships, the background, and other objects, I can usually render a 45 second video in about 90 minutes.  But that could also be because the objects are seen as already rendered in the work window....which could also explain why sometimes my machine bogs down when I work in full pixel-textured mode. :)

Night at the Musuem. I shudder at thr very thought of what the James T. Kirk educational hologram is doing to the Kathryn Janeway and Rachel Garrett holograms.

And Spock and Data are probably lecturing one another while Scotty, Trip, and Geordi talk engines. Now that's a Star Trek 'Night at the Museum'. LOL!
