The unfinished Andromeda Initiative Space Station Nexus in 2185.

Paragon Sig Icon

Founded in 2176 and launched in 2185, the Andromeda Initiative is a civilian, multi-species project created to send scientists, explorers, and colonists on a one-way trip to settle in the Andromeda Galaxy. With powerful benefactors lending their support, the program has grown substantially in scope since its inception. The Initiative’s ultimate goal is to establish a permanent presence on the seemingly resource-rich frontier of Andromeda and eventually create a reliable route between it and the Milky Way Galaxy.

The 15,47 kilometer long Space Station Nexus is intended to be the hub of the Andromeda Initiative once the project reaches the Andromeda galaxy. Taking inspiration from the much larger Citadel, the Nexus contains features comparable in form and function to those found in the Milky Way station and houses the command echelons of the project.

At launch, the Nexus resembles two Wards of the Citadel joined together at the base. Upon reaching Andromeda, construction is due to commence on the station in order to give it a Presidium-like central torus and another Ward-like superstructure. The arks are to dock with the station on its central support column to provide it with extra power and storage.

So I have been staring at this everyday now that it is my background image for my computer. I feel like it would have looked cooler if the Nexus was four of these strapped together in a big wheel. Would make more sense from a logistics point too. Not wasting resources on building the supply station.

Bioware made alot of early concepts for the Station. If i had this right in mind, there was such a concept you describe.
I already though, i can made one or another kitbash to recreate the other concepts Bioware show here: cdna.artstation.com/p/assets/i…

5,7, 14 and 15 but with the current design of the Nexus "petal' would look cool I think.these are some cool concepts

if it launched like this.....where did they keep the materials for the second ward..........looks great though. Beautiful shot.

Its possible, thats most of the materials were already inside the first ward. Its still a giant hollow tube filled with goods.

But yeah, i wondering myself. Even if they have all the materials, they build a second 15 kilometer superstructure in less than 14 month. (As relation: The Systems Alliance needs 2 Years for a 1 kilometer Dreadnought) And if you read the book "Nexus uprising" which explain the backstory of Security Chief Sloane Kelly, at the end of the book, they not even though about expanding the station because of the shortage of energy.

also now that I look at it, more than a few of the screenshots seem to suggest the ring and secondary hull are hollow shells. That is a much more reasonable progression.

MY Thought was that they had piggy packed the two halves, then build the ring when they got there, or possible that most of the internals were as you said not constructed and it was just hollow cargo space with prefabricated components.
