The USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-F) was a 25th century Federation starship, an Odyssey-class vessel launched in the year 2409 under the command of the Andorian Captain Va'Kel Shon.
Following the destruction of the USS Belfast, Captain Shon and many of the other surviving crew members of that ship were reassigned to the newly launched starship Enterprise.

The 1061 meters long Odyssey-class was the pinnacle of Federation starship design and would carry the Federation into a new generation of exploration in the 25th century. It was designed to be a dreadnought and an explorer. It is one of the largest starships created by Starfleet, surpassing even the Galaxy-class in size.

The Odyssey-class featured the ability for saucer separation much like the Galaxy-class. The chevron-shaped saucer section could be separated from the stardrive section, allowing greater maneuverability to the stardrive section. The chevron section can be reattached to the stardrive section at any time. In addition, an Aquarius-class escort ship is docked to the rear of the ship's stardrive, which can be deployed at will.
Admiral Picard also commanded a Odyssey class starship, the USS Verity in 2385.

Love it! And that's coming from someone who's been a Trekkie since the 1970s.

Thank you very much!

Great image! But...

"Was".

Why speak of a future(-istic) design in the past tense? ;)

Euderion's avatar

Depends what you see as "the future". Let us say this was written by a historican from the current timeline in the 32 century. ;-)

OMG you are a time traveller!

Say no more!

also because she underwent a refit to the Yorktown subclass/variant

There were also two other variants, as well as a prototypical design class developed after the Odyssey & Verity prototypes. After over 30 years of more development, the Odyssey Class was finally mass produced. It has a timeline similar to the Ambassador Class, but the initial design managed to make a comeback with the Odyssey. Funny enough, STO saw the Ambassador's initial design make a modded comeback as well, serving as a versa-cruiser. :3

That I am well aware of, when I used the T6 version of odyssey class, I tend to use a mixed variant of the Sojourner, Endeavor and the Yorktown, but what I stated before was based on her canonical representation within STO

Always liked that that this was the first Enterprise to not be commanded by a human.

Spock was captain of the Enterprise for a time. The Enterprise F did have the first Andorian to captain the flagship.

Fair, Fair. If we have a tellarite enterprise captain, then we can have all founders of the federation!

Does the F make an appearance in the new series?

Euderion's avatar

No, it was seen in Star Trek Online as Starfleets newest Flagship and the Odyssey class was also seen in the Countdown Comic for Star Trek Picard, as the USS Verity, the ship Picard commands as an Admiral.

Guess I still like the E.

Star Trek: The Next Next Generation.

It's like the Enterprise E and Voyager had a baby.
