David Hurst played the Ambassador Hodin in the Star Trek Original Series Episode 3x17 "The mark of Gideon". He also played roles in Mission Impossible, Charlies Angels and dozens others.
David Hurst was born in Berlin / Germany in 1926. At the age of 13, his parents took him to safety from the Nazis on the “Kindertransport” to Great Britain. His parents were murdered as Jews in the Theresienstadt and Auschwitz extermination camps. His acting talent was quickly discovered and he served in the British Army during and shortly after World War II. In the 1950s he went to the USA, where he first worked on Broadway and later in Hollywood. Here he founded the left splinter party “peace and freedom party” with Jane Fonda. He played among others in Charlie's Angels and in the Star Trek episode "The Mark of Gideon" (3-16: "The mark of Gideon") the role of the ambassador Hodin kidnapped Captain Kirk in order to get pathogens from him that should be used to cleanse the planet threatened by overpopulation.
But his passion was the theater. He was drawn to Europe and in the early 2000s back to Berlin - his hometown, but also to the land of the murderers of his parents. Here the Euderion fangroup got to know and appreciate him for the first time in 2014. Together with the Star Trek Round Table, the Euderion organized a meet and greet with the sympathetic actor, who was happy to report on his life and work as an actor.
September 15, 2019 at 1:15 p.m. his long and eventful life in Berlin came to an end. We are grateful that we got to know him and that we could still be there for him in the last few months.
