I'll admit that this piece had me struggling. I totally agree about the lighting, I just couldn't seem to get it right. I had to change the background so many times and the way it fell just left the horse in the middle, which is something I try to avoid doing XD. I also see what you mean by the positioning of the horse. I think I kinda fooled myself by looking long enough at it to convince myself that the horse was somehow jumping from the rock ledge and across haha.

Now that you've pointed it out, you're right, there should be more ripples because of the movement. I also see what you're saying about the front leg being behind the back one, I guess the horsie is just holding a really awkward and weird pose XD

First off, thank you so much for the critique! I think I'll go back and fix some of those things. You're right, the gorse's face could do with some glow. As for the mane, I'll see what I can do about the blurriness. Haha yes, the blue tones were a bit of a pain, I tried to make it look realist. Without the horse looking too splotchy XD.
