In The Morgul Vale by EthalenSkye In The Morgul Vale by EthalenSkye
The foreground may be a bit undone......
But really. What is the main focus? That's right. The glowy corpse-light walls! :D

:D Thank you, Ele! Yeah, I remember Tolkien described the city as having this eerie light about it - corpse-light! :)

Cheers, Rikky. I was starting to think it's a bit bright. Maybe I should tone it down a bt.

Ah, the wonders of editing! I used a soft focus after tweaking the tone and contrast. Scanning my dark works always washes out the image a bit.
Corel PSP is a hoot.

Ever try photographing your work? Scanning my sketches always turns out messy. I use so much graphite that it has shiny spots all over the place and editing gives me a headache. :XD:

Actually 'Palinroe', 'Tower of Skye', 'Golem Awakens' and a few others were photographed.
These dark ones are tricky though. The surface bounces light....
Have you tried torchons for your graphite? They help take out the luster as well as being great for blending. :)

Oh yes, most certainly! That and q-tips, lol. They work pretty well, but there are usually details I like to keep sharp and bold. My fingers also often come in use at any given time through my projects... not that I intend that to happen, but I'll look and low and behold, my fingers are black!

All coloured pencils again. :)
Then a little editing in Corel to effect.
