Just a quick shot of my desktop (dual monitors) after a days work of making it look acceptable :)

It's pretty comfy, I'll probably mess around some more, maybe add a bar.

Feel free to leave feedback/ask any questions!

nice theme, very nice, i really love the clock, are you using rain meter? please tell me how to make it :)
EternalKernel's avatar
Not sure if you took a look at my other stuff, but I only post Linux shots :) So no Rainmeter here! None of that gross windows stuff ;D Thought I'm sure you could easily achieve something similar

No, i don't look at your other stuff, sorry.
Even though linux is a very beautiful os, i can't change it due to some program requirement.
So i want to change my "gross" windows layout to become something more beautiful :)
what did you use your linux for?
EternalKernel's avatar
Well, that's totally understandable :)

What do I use linux for? Everything, in terms of computing of course :P

yeah, even i want to change my brother's computer if he's only using for browsing :)

Awesome. Yeah we only have one Windows box in our house, got the parents running on Linux too. So long as there's a somewhat familiar or intuitive UI slapped on top, it's just as easy for them to understand, but with the freedom of Linux. My mum's got an Acer Aspire One netbook, so I put Arch on it for her and got lxde running on top. Lightweight so it runs fast on the relatively low-end hardware, and a familiar desktop layout. She hasn't had any trouble in the past year or so that she's been using it.

And like you say, if it's only really for browsing, then it just makes sense. Could even have autologin, auto launch X and have the browser in the .xinitrc :P

- what colour profile are you using in your terminal?
- what colour settings do you use for the frames in your i3 config?
- are you using a composition manager or where does the shadow come from?
EternalKernel's avatar
1. Oblivious Spring
2. tail .i3/config | fb ;)
3. It's compton, a fork of xcompmgr - a little cleaner with some bugs cleared up.

nice! Thank you very much. That's worth a :+fav: although I dislike that scaled up wallpaper :D
I will have to take a look at compton. xcompmgr worked like sh*t for me. On the other hand, I neither use floating windows nor a wallpaper :D
EternalKernel's avatar
No problem :) Meh, I wanted a wallpaper that'd stretch across my dual head setup :P

If you don't float, then there's not point running a compositor.

[link] :)

I might someday come back using my fluxbox session again and there composition could come in handy for real transparency and so on :)

Yup! Always use wallbase or DA for my walls :)

Ah that's fair enough

Which bar are you planning to use by the way?
EternalKernel's avatar
I was thinking I might go with dzen, or LemonBoy's bar... but I've been getting on fine without one. So I'll probably just carry on that way :)
