Tudor Dress Top

This is the top of the "outer gown" part of a Tudor dress I was making. The gown is completed (Unless I have to raise the hem some) but the underskirt and lower sleeves are still waiting to be made.

The gown is made out of raspberry red, embroidered taffeta that is meant to be used for curtains. It has a raspberry red/black sheen to it and I like it a lot even though it's not 100% historically accurate.

The pattern I used is Simplicity pattern no. 2589 to make this gown and the whole entire costume. Like the fabric, the pattern is not 100% historically accurate but since I wanted a Tudor dress and didn't want to spend a lot of money on a historically accurate pattern, this pattern was the best option for me. ^_^

The trim on the neckline has rhinestones in gold settings. It's very pretty and I like it more than using pearls for the trim. (I like pearls and I like them on the trim of Tudor dresses, but I just don't like them on this dress. ^_^) The trim was hand sewed on the neckline.

The necklace on the dress form is one I bought at a clearance sale and, since I don't have anywhere to put it and let it look pretty, I let my dress form wear it. ^_^

Edit: Photo of the full outer gown completed:

Thank you so much! It is a great pattern, I just wish they'd explain how to make the sleeves a little better. XD I can't wait to wear it this season! I'm so excited! XD
