Tudor Dress Outer Gown

By EssieofWho

Last photo of the "outer gown" of my Tudor dress for now. The photo isn't the best picture of the gown (Especially with the dark colored wardrobe behind the dress form that makes the dress blend into the background) but I was just so happy I finished it I took photos of the dress completed.

The dress is made using Simplicity pattern no. 2589. The fabric is raspberry red, embroidered taffeta with a black sheen. (Depending where you look and stand) You cannot see it in the photo, but the inner part of the sleeves are lined with black broadcloth. (Only at the widest part of the sleeve.) The rest of the bodice is lined with lining fabric I had in my fabric stash. ^.^

The white skirt under the gown is the petticoat I plan on wearing with the skirt and gown. I still have to make the underskirt and lower sleeves that go with the dress, but that's been put on hold until I can get my sewing machine fixed.

Close up of the top of the gown:
