I've been wanting to add some of the concept art I draw in order to figure out how to make costumes to my gallery here on DA, but I usually write and draw arrows all over the picture so it looks pretty sloppy. So, I decided to be wise today and take a photo of the concept art BEFORE I write all my instructions on how to construct it on the picture. I cannot tell you how proud I am of myself for doing this. ^_^

This is supposed to be a concept for a costume I want to make to the Arizona Renaissance Festival 2013. The idea is to make a Valkyrie costume that fits in with the costumes/world seen in the movie Thor. Since the Valkyrie are female warriors that choose who lives and dies in battle, I wanted the costume to look like a female warrior from the movie, but still stands apart from the other female warrior costumes. Since there was a reference to the Valkyrie's home Valhalla in the movie, I thought the Valkyrie should have some sort of costume that is similar to the ones seen in Thor.

The base of the whole costume I want to make is a green, velvet dress I made and wore to the RenFest in 2010. I recently fixed so it would fit me again and I really do want to have the chance to wear it again. I want to add layers to the costume so I could take it apart and wear pieces of the costume in normal life. ;)

I'm still debating over the coloring of the costume and what "layers" should be added and where. Since the base dress is green and I plan on adding a lot of black accents to the costume, I worry that people will think I look like Loki's wife Sigyn. I don't see how people will think I'm Sigyn, unless I'm standing next to a Loki, but I still worry. So, for the time being, this is just a sketch of all the parts of the costume I want at this time.

So, that's about it for now. I'm still debating on the design of the costume, or if I'll end up making the costume for the RenFest at all, but hey. At least you get to see what I do and draw before I start to make any of my costumes. :D

Art belongs to me. DO NOT REDISTRIBUTE OR USE WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!!!! References for costumes or drawing is ok, just ask and/or give me credit. :)
