Sorry about the photo. This isn't the best photo of the dress, but it's the best I could do at the time. :P

Some of you may remember my Rose Tyler dress from the episode The Idiot's Lantern from Doctor Who... [link] I was, and still am, VERY proud of the dress because I hand sewed every sequin on the bodice by hand. It took about five or six months to sew all the sequins on, but in the end it was totally worth it.

Sadly, I cannot wear it anymore because it doesn't fit me. It should have still fit me, if I hadn't grown three inches in the past year. Those three inches affected the way the bodice fit me so much I couldn't wear it anymore. The skirt still fit me, but the bodice didn't. So, I had to choose if I wanted to leave the dress as-is and never wear it again, or remake the bodice all over again so I can wear the dress more. I chose to remake the bodice. :D

The skirt from the original dress was saved and reattached to the new bodice I made using views A and E of New Look pattern #6457. I decided to use the remaking of the bodice as a chance to make the bodice more comfortable than the first one. I also tried VERY hard to use a pattern that will allow me to add more fabric to the back. This way if I grow taller I won't have to remake the bodice from scratch for a third time. :) As with the first version, this bodice is made out of pink satin.

When I took this photo, I was beginning to fit the bodice and now I'm beginning to sew the sequins onto the bodice. I'm planning on wearing this to Saboten Con 2013, but I'm unsure if I'll make it by then. It's all a matter of how fast I sew the sequins onto the bodice. :D

So, that's the current progress on the Rose Tyler dress. The lesson from making this dress? Don't make an elaborate costume when you're growing taller! XD
